PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The amidoammonium bases, which can be used as azo dye components, cannot can only be represented by reduction of nitroammonium bases, but also in such a way that that one starts from derivatives of aromatic diamines in which an amido group is so converted is that it no longer causes any basic properties, so by using mono-acidyl derivatives, Mono-alkylidene derivatives or mono-azo derivatives of the diamines of alkylation subjects and splits the resulting derivatives in a known manner.
ι. ρ - Acetylamidodimethylaniline FP 130 0 is heated with the 1 mol. corresponding amount of iodomethyl at water bath temperature; the resulting p-acetylamidophenyltrimethylammonium iodide is fairly soluble in water; it decomposes at 22 5 °. The corresponding chloride is also easily soluble in water; from alcohol it crystallizes into leaflets, which decompose when heated to 215 °. In order to get the ρ - amidophenyltrimethylammonium from it, one can with 6 to 10 proc. Boil hydrochloric acid. The zinc double salt of the amidoammonium base is precipitated from the solution by means of zinc chloride; the solution can also be used directly to represent azo colors.
2. If one proceeds in the same way with the p-acetylamidodiethylaniline FP 104 0 , then one obtains the ρ - acetylamidophenyldiethylmethylammonium iodide, the decomposition point of which is 195 °; the analogous chloride decomposes at around 170 0 . When boiled with dilute acid, it gives the diazotizable solution of the ρ-amidophenyl diethylmethylammonium base.
The hydrochloric acid p-Amidodiethylmethylphenylammonium is in water and also in alcohol very soluble, it was not obtained in crystallized form; with zinc chloride its solution gives the Precipitation of a zinc double salt which crystallizes in shiny prisms.
Das durch Zusammenbringen mit Chlorzinklösung entstehende Zinkdoppelsalz bildet grofse, in kaltem wie in heifsem Wasser sehr leicht lösliche Prismen.3. m-Benzoylamidodimethylaniline FP 159 0 is heated to 100 ° with iodomethyl; the resulting m-benzoylamidotrimethylphenylammonium iodide, crystallized from alcohol, forms shiny flakes with a melting point of 170 ° ; it is also soluble in hot water, and separates from it in coarse, tufted, tufted crystals. The corresponding chloride, obtained by reacting with chlorine silver, is very easily soluble in water. By heating it with about the same weight of concentrated hydrochloric acid it is split at 100 ° and the hydrochloric acid m-amidotrimethylphenylammonium is formed; this salt crystallizes from water in colorless prisms, and is very easily soluble in it. The zinc double salt which is formed by contacting it with a zinc chloride solution forms large prisms which are very easily soluble in both cold and hot water.
4. Salzsaures Acetyl - m - Phenylendiamin (18,5 Theile) wird mit Methylalkohol (45 Theilen), Jodmethyl (45 Theilen) gelöst und eine Lösung4. Acetyl hydrochloric acid - m - phenylenediamine (18.5 parts) is mixed with methyl alcohol (45 parts), Iodomethyl (45 parts) dissolved and a solution
Acetylamidotrirnethylphenylarnmoniumjodid in rough, shiny prisms, whose decomposition temperature is 210-215 0 - On cooling the kryställisirt m. The corresponding chloride is very easily soluble in water; it forms stiff prisms that are united in tufts; the acetyl group is split off by boiling with dilute hydrochloric acid and the above-described salt of the amidoammonium base is obtained.
5. Dimethyl-m-AcetylphenylendiaminF. Dimethyl-m-acetylphenylenediamine F. P. 87 0 (1 part) is boiled with benzene (3 parts) and iodomethyl (1 part); the ammonium iodide described above is then deposited.
Dimethyl - m - acetyl - m - phenylenediamine (17 parts) is mixed with bromoethyl (12 parts) Heated to 90 to 100 ° in a closed vessel for 5 to 6 hours; it separates m - Acetylamidodimethyläthylphenylammoniumbromid made in needles, which in water very easily are soluble. By boiling with about 10 proc. Hydrochloric acid becomes the acetyl compound Salt of m-amidodimethylethylphenylammonium which is very easily soluble in water and crystallizes in fine prisms.
Benzylidene-p-amidodimethylaniline (1 mol.) is dissolved in methyl alcohol with a small excess of iodomethyl (1 mol), am Reflux condenser boiled; After a short time, the benzylidene-p-amidophenyltrimethylammonium iodide separates away; it is almost insoluble in alcohol. By heating with steam in the presence of hydrochloric acid, the benzylidene compound is broken down and at the same time the Benzaldehyde overdone. Then you can react the aqueous solution with lead chloride, to obtain the ρ - amidophenyltrimethylammonium chloride; this connection is in Extremely easily soluble in water; it crystallizes in fine prisms. Chlorine zinc turns off of the solution, that which crystallizes in large prisms and is, moreover, easily soluble in water Zinc double salt deposited.
'8. Tetramethyl-m-m-diamidoazobenzene (from m-Nitrodimethylaniline by alkaline reduction obtained) is dissolved in about five times the amount of methyl alcohol, with a 2 to 3 mol. appropriate amount of iodomethyl cooked; after several hours of heating it will separated powdery ammonium iodide; it forms orange-colored leaflets, F. P. 225 °. The chloride corresponding to this iodide forms flat needles, which at approx. 200 ° melt with decomposition. By reduction, ζ. B. with zinc and hydrochloric acid, arises from the Azoammonium chloride is the m-amidophenyltrimethylammonium base characterized above. '
ρ - dimethylamidoazobenzene (20 parts) is heated with benzene and iodomethyl (15 parts) for about 6 hours to 60 to 70 °; the result is azobenzene-p-trimethylammonium iodide, which is sparingly soluble in benzene, but easily soluble in hot alcohol or water, and is deposited from these solvents in shiny leaves or coarse crystals; it decomposes at 200 0 . The corresponding chloride is very easily soluble in water and forms yellow leaves; Decomposition point approx. 210 °.
