Description
Cigar drying system for the cigar trade Every expert knows that a cigar can only develop its full aroma when it is well stored and dry and can give the smoker the highest level of enjoyment. To achieve this quality; A storage time of a to 3 months is normally required. As a result of the general Lack of money and the mostly inadequate storage space today can meet these requirements can only be met in very few cases. But even where the cigars are in the Cigar factories by means of large drying systems -, are dried, is thus closed expect that they will regain moisture both during transport and at the dealer since cigars are known to be hygroscopic. The danger is with the Tobacco shops in general, but especially in business locations with predominantly humid climate and in the shops in makeshift reconstructed rooms with damp walls, as one often finds in the big cities today. In the Cigar stores will continue to generally sell tabalc cigars and cigarettes stored together, but tobacco and cigarettes must be kept fresh and contain a much greater percentage of moisture than cigars. Self if these rooms are heated during the cold and crowded season, vacuum Cigars make up a large part of the moisture emitted from cigarettes and tobacco and are thus continuously impaired in their drying process.
Wenn die Trocknung in der Zigarrenfabrik durchgeführt wird, ist die Ware während des Transports nochmals den Witterungseinflüssen ausgesetzt und kommt in den meisten Fällen in feuchtem Zustand beim Empfänger an.Large drying systems are and will be enormously high in purchase price so far only from a relatively small part of the cigar industry and in one even smaller numbers from the cigar trade used. In general In these drying systems, rapid drying at high degrees of warmth and corresponding Air circulation carried out. When the temperature is high, the cigar makes during and After drying, a certain fermentation process goes through and is therefore not ready for sale immediately after drying. When drying in the cigar factory is carried out, the goods are again subject to the effects of the weather during transport exposed and in most cases arrives at the recipient in a moist state.
What is needed is an inexpensive, space-consuming, simple one Operable drying system that enables the cigar dealer to use the normal Shorten storage time and his cigars ie: currently quick and cheap to dry. -This problem has found its solution in the invention; it consists in -that a cabinet with shelves and adjustable ventilation in Chest to furniture size is electrically heated. With this simple and handy Devices that small cigar dealers can also buy can now be bought by dealers drying and aging his cigars before selling and thus the quality like also significantly increase the digestibility of his cigars. The new drying cabinet can be designed in its exterior just as beautifully as any other piece of furniture, so that: it is a gem for every shop, office, living room, etc. The power consumption is so low that the system is connected to every light line can turn.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. It shows Fig. @I the new drying system in a front view with the cabinet half open, Fig. 2 is a side view of the plant and Fig. 3 the bottom of the plant, partially in section with circuit diagram.
According to the invention, the cigars are dried and stored at the cigar dealer in a cabinet about the size of a console up to to a cabinet. In this cabinet compartments or shelves are provided which serve to set up the cigar boxes b, these compartments in a well-known expedient Way are adjustable in their distance.
The cabinet shown in Fig. I has two doors, one door being removed. The electric heater c is located on the bottom of this cupboard. The switch d for switching on and regulating the current is located on a side wall of the cabinet (Fig. 2). Next to. the switch d is .the electrical connection ' e, which is connected to the light line. The heater can be laid on the floor of the cabinet, but it can also be used as a finished unit. Lay heating in the cupboard is covered by a metal frame f about 15 to 20 cm high to prevent the lower cigar ends from being exposed to excessive heat and to achieve a uniform temperature in the drying room. The metal frame is provided with air holes g.
The ventilation of the drying cabinet is in the illustrated embodiment achieved in that air holes h provided in the bottom of the cabinet: are, the same in the upper part of one or more side walls, so that an air flow from below to rises up through the drying room. Since warm air rises upwards, it opens up In this way, you can achieve strong ventilation in the drying room. The air holes are in a manner known per se by a sliding plate i with the same size, accordingly arranged air holes hl partially or completely coverable. In the illustrated embodiment only the coverability of the bottom holes is illustrated in this way. The plate can be easily operated by a head k attached to the switching side. The temperature in the drying room is measured by a thermometer and on the the control panel attached instrument m read, so that the heating after the Temperature can be regulated.
The drying of cigars with the help of this device is very easy. At the beginning of the drying cycle, depending on the external temperature and weather conditions, the switch is switched on with the ventilation closed, apply a strong current until the thermometer indicates a temperature of about 3o to 35 ° in the drying room. After that the loading and vent open; whereupon the thermometer initially declines by a few degrees of heat. If after a few hours the inside walls of the cupboard, the boxes and the cigars are thoroughly warmed through, it is advisable to go back a little with the heating, until a temperature of about 30 ° is reached, which is then kept constant. At this temperature, natural drying is achieved in around 2 days. After switching off the heating, the cigars should expediently - with the cabinet open cool, as they only show their final strength after cooling. While -During the drying process, it is recommended to use the room where the drying cabinet is placed is to ventilate often by opening the window, so that the drying system new fresh air supplied by wind. Naturally, the method can be switched on Abbreviated to higher temperature as well as by setting to lower temperatures be extended.
The new cupboard also gives the option of keeping it moist Weather to dry the cigars in the sales room again.
