2.) Description:

'\ 2.1. The transport and storage of used batteries and accumulators containing residual amounts of sulphuric acid is regulated by the Road Hazardous Goods Ordinance

(GgvS). According to this, vehicles or containers must be made of acid-resistant steel of DIN No. 1.4505, 1.4506 or 1.4571.

It should also be provided with an inner plastic coating to insulate any residual currents that may occur.

2.7 In order to create these conditions and to make the containers safer and more versatile, a new type and shape of container was designed. With its dimensions (see drawing), the newly developed container is designed exactly to meet the requirements for transport with conventional skip loader vehicles on the road, as well as for transport by wagon on the rail.

It is also taken into account that this container type can be used with the new special vehicles (RB transfer tippers) of the German Federal Railways in door-to-door transport.

In addition to the new application possibilities, the following technical innovations must be taken into account:

The container is a rectangular container with all four sides welded together, without additional doors or flaps and can only be filled from above. The absolute tightness is checked by the Technical Inspection Association and is therefore guaranteed without restrictions. The interior is lined with 1 cm thick high-density polyethylene and the plastic edges are welded to make them acid-tight. The polyethylene therefore fulfils three functions. It serves as impact protection, prevents residual currents from passing over and protects the outer body from the effects of acid. Due to the container's outer walls being inclined at an angle of 11 degrees, the containers can be stacked inside one another when empty and therefore only require half to a third of the required floor space.

The volume of 6.5 cbm is adapted to the specific weight of the goods, so that exceeding the permissible total weight due to overfilling is impossible. The construction is also designed so that emptying can take place from two sides and no additional handling is required when taking over.

2.3. The containers are used for the safe, correct storage and transport of old car and machine batteries and accumulators. Due to environmental and transport laws, they are used in the trade with metal and waste materials, at disposal sites such as production facilities, workshops, petrol stations and disposal sites. They can also be used for the storage and transport of liquid and pasty hazardous goods that require disposal within the framework of the legal regulations.

Claims (5)

Protection claims 1.) Container for the storage and transport of used batteries and accumulators with residual amounts of sulphuric acid, characterized in that the container is a self-contained container, with two opposite equal sides, with only one opening at the top without side doors or flaps, made of alloy steel DIN 1.4576. 2.) Container according to claim 1, characterized in that the left and right side walls, as well as the front and rear walls are welded together at an inclination of 11 degrees to the vertical and the interior, with the same inclination, consists of high-molecular-weight, UV-resistant polyethylene. 3.) Container according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that in the inner part of the front and rear sides a 45 degree bevel is provided across the entire width to which a triple catch stand for tipping catch hooks is welded. 4.) Container according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the left and right side walls in the lower area are manufactured over the entire external dimension and are not adapted to the bevel of the front and rear. 5.) Container according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that net catch hooks made of 8 mm round steel are welded over the entire circumference at a height of 1147 mm and at a distance of 250 mm from each other.
