The invention relates to a concrete block with a geometrical floor plan consisting of two regular pentagons connected along a base edge.

Concrete blocks have become known as paving stones for paving streets, parking lots and paths of various shapes. The problem, particularly in large areas, was _how to drain rainwater as quickly as possible.

The invention is based on the object of creating a concrete block of the type mentioned at the beginning, which can be laid easily and safely due to its geometric layout, but with which the possibility is created of achieving smooth water drainage by forming appropriately shaped openings or channels from the surface of the laid concrete blocks to the ground or a special sewerage system.

The stated object is achieved according to the invention with a concrete block of the type mentioned at the beginning in that recesses are provided at two corners of the pentagons which are each parallel to the base edge and opposite one another, the two side edges of which run at right angles to each other and to the side edges of the pentagons which run towards the corners.

The concrete block according to the invention has the significant advantage that when the blocks are laid in a bond, openings or channels with a square cross-section are created which can be filled with gravel or loose sand, which results in water draining quickly from the surface of the laid concrete blocks to the ground or to a sewer system. In addition, the measure according to the invention results in an improved appearance of the surface of the area covered with the concrete blocks according to the invention, since the square openings loosen up the overall appearance, particularly when they are filled with correspondingly large pebbles.
