Grounding plug

The innovation concerns a grounding plug for potential equalization of statically charged devices.

The problem of static charges has so far arisen in computer workstations, statically charged screens, statically charged carpets, earthing mats, shielding mats in living and sleeping areas, whereby no satisfactory potential equalization could be achieved. Up to now, it was known that such arrangements and devices could only be earthed using a single earthing cable, whereby this earthing cable was introduced into the protective conductor potential of the socket or connected to the earth potential on the Schuko socket.

However, there is a risk that you might accidentally choose the wrong potential and, for example, bring the phase onto the device to be earthed, thus causing fatal accidents.

In addition, such a method of earthing is prohibited under the current regulations of the individual industrialized countries.

The aim of this innovation is therefore to further develop an earthing plug of the type mentioned above in such a way that it complies with the relevant national test regulations, that it is safe to use and can be manufactured inexpensively.

To solve the problem, the innovation is characterized in that a plug is connected via a three-core, relatively short, connecting cable to a housing in which an electrical consumer and an earthing socket are arranged.

The given technical features solve the specified task, because according to the regulations currently in force in the individual industrialized countries, only an assigned plug that is connected to an electrical consumer may be connected to a socket in the household.

This is fulfilled by the present innovation, which in a preferred first embodiment provides a glow lamp as an electrical consumer, which is connected in series with a series resistor.

In another embodiment of the present innovation, the electrical consumer is designed as a light-emitting diode with an associated power supply unit.

The innovation described has the significant advantage that this type of earthing plug now complies with the relevant regulations in industrialized countries, because there is now a plug on the connection side that fits exactly into the corresponding socket. For German conditions, a Schuko plug, or preferably a Euro plug, is used for this.

In a further preferred embodiment, it is preferred for operational safety reasons if the plug is molded directly onto the connecting cable in order to create a break-free transition. Furthermore, this avoids unprofessional interventions on the plug.

The connecting cable leads into a housing which is closed by a housing cover, whereby the housing cover is preferably connected to the housing via fastening screws such that the housing cover can no longer be removed.

In another embodiment, it could also be provided that the contents in the housing are completely injected or cast in; it would

In the housing, the phase and neutral conductors are then connected either via a connecting clamp or, in another embodiment, via a soldering point to the glow lamp and the series resistor

The fastening parts mentioned are preferably mounted on a printed circuit board so that easy installation is possible.

The protective conductor is routed across the printed circuit board to the rear of the housing, where a conventional grounding socket is routed out of the housing.

The earthing cable of the device to be earthed is now inserted into this earthing socket.

This has the significant advantage that the invention now makes it possible to safely connect the earthing cable to the electrical socket, which was not the case before.

The subject matter of the present innovation arises not only from the subject matter of the individual protection claims, but also from the combination of the individual protection claims with one another.

Advantages of the innovation.

The innovation will now be described in more detail using an example.

Figure 1 shows a schematic top view of an earthing plug according to the innovation with the housing open.

Figure 2 shows the top view of the housing cover.

In Figure 1, a Schuko plug 1 is firmly connected to a connecting cable 2, whereby the length 3 of the connecting cable 2 is selected to be relatively short, preferably about 12 cm, in order to ensure that, in the case of sockets installed 30 cm above the ground, the housing 4 attached to the end of the connecting cable does not hit or lie on the ground. This prevents the housing from coming into contact with water when there is water on the ground or from being stepped on with the foot.

A strain relief 5 of known type is attached to the entrance of the housing 4, with the two wires 15, 16 being inserted into a connecting terminal.

Instead of the connecting terminal 11, soldering points to the underlying printed circuit board 8 can also be used.

In the embodiment shown, the connecting terminal 11 is provided with connection lugs on the bottom, which engage in corresponding holes in the printed circuit board and are soldered there directly to the conductors 17,18 of the printed circuit board 8.

In the area of the conductor tracks 17, 18, a glow lamp 6 is connected in series with a series resistor 7. The series circuit of

The third wire, namely the protective conductor 9, is led over the printed circuit board 8 to the bottom side of the housing 4 and is soldered there to one pole of a grounding socket 10, which is firmly connected to the bottom side of the housing 4 via corresponding clamping nuts.

The grounding socket 10 can be designed in different ways, but it is preferred to be designed as a CINCH socket or as a telephone socket.

In the housing, fastening screws 14 are inserted into corresponding sockets, which are detachably - but preferably also permanently - connected to the housing cover 12 that is to be attached above it.

A sight glass 13 is mounted in the housing cover 12, which is preferably made of plastic and consists of red transparent material.

The advantage of the earthing plug described above is that it can be used to achieve perfect earthing of statically charged devices with relatively little effort.

• This arrangement is reliable and easy to handle.
