It has been shown that such a wiper blade, even if it is designed in the majority of cases, can certainly do its job, but that it often takes too long, especially when driving at night, until the window is clear again, i.e. the last streaks on the window have disappeared. For this reason, windscreen wipers have already been developed in which several wiper blades are arranged parallel to one another, one of which in particular is designed like a scratch sponge in order not to wipe away any insects that have hit it, but to remove them and to provide a clear view through the window, whereby the effect is achieved by the two-sided wiper blades. &idgr;

It was found that this solution, even with the addition of cleaning agents, was not sufficient to ensure that the driver had a full view through the windshield quickly enough, meaning that there was still an increased risk of accidents, particularly when driving at night, when a motor vehicle approaches from the front and the streaks on the windshield obstruct the driver's view.

Such triple windshield wipers work very well in principle, but it turns out that the windshield wiper blades have to follow the curves of the windshield of a motor vehicle. For this reason, they are divided along their length and their sections are mounted with different springs. According to the state of the art, the parallel wiper blades, including the insect sponge, are arranged in a common holder (DE-OS 30 31 108/ DE-OS 24 47 923/ DE-OS 29 43 363). This common parallel mounting creates the same pressure forces for the wiper blades lying parallel to one another, so that, particularly with curved windshields, the pressure of the wiper blades is distributed unevenly from wiper blade to wiper blade during the wiper movement. Therefore, despite the triple design of the wiper, streaks and the like can form, which impair the driver's view.

The object of the invention is to provide a windscreen wiper with parallel multiple wiper blades, which ensures perfect and lightning-fast cleaning even on frosted windows using water or a cleaning cloth, and which uses significantly less water during cleaning than with previously known windscreen wiper systems.

This object is solved by the characterizing feature of claim 1.

Because the wiper blades are arranged parallel to one another and are individually spring-mounted and, in addition, the spring force of the individual wiper blades is adjustable, either in principle or in relation to one another, a perfect windshield wiping effect can be achieved.

The wiper arm (1) is attached to a drive motor (not shown) so that the wiper blades (2, 3, 4) move back and forth on the windshield. Three spring arms (5, 6, 7) are attached independently of one another to the wiper arm (1) with screws (12, 13), which carry the wiper blades (2, 3, 4) via joints (8, 9, 10).
