Furniture front panel with a handle

The present innovation concerns a l'Söbel front panel with a handle part.

In the context of this innovation, furniture front panels with a handle part are understood to mean, for example, furniture doors, flaps, drawer fronts or the like, i.e., furniture front panels that ultimately serve to cover cupboards or furniture compartments. Such furniture front panels are generally equipped with a handle part to make handling easier when opening or closing.

The handle parts of known furniture front panels are generally placed on the furniture front panels, but handle parts are also known that are embedded in the furniture front panels as shell-shaped components.

Regardless of how the familiar handle parts are designed and mounted on furniture front panels, the handles

parts have so far been located within the geometric base area of the respective furniture front panel, determined by the outer edges of a furniture front panel. Although there are also known constructions in which a handle strip is attached to an outer edge of a furniture front panel, such handle strips are generally made of metal, wood or a suitably strong plastic.

In this respect, all previously known furniture front panels with a handle part have in common that there is a considerable risk of injury when such furniture front panels are used as furniture doors, flaps or similar. If such a furniture door, flap or similar is opened, there is a risk that a person could seriously injure themselves if they bump into the edges or corners of the furniture door, flap or similar.

The aim of the present innovation is to create a furniture front panel with a handle part, with which the danger described above is reduced, i.e. which, when used as a furniture door, flap or the like, has a significantly lower risk of injury than is the case with previously known furniture front panels.

This task is solved according to the innovation in that the handle part is made of an elastically deformable material such as plastic or rubber and at least part of the longitudinal and/or side edges

the furniture front panel.

If such a furniture front panel is used as a furniture door, flap or similar, the risk of injury from bumping into the edges or a corner is significantly reduced, as the particularly dangerous areas of such a furniture front panel, namely the long and/or side edges and thus also the corners, are formed by the handle part made of elastically deformable material.

A further advantage of the new design is that the handle part can now be included in the aesthetic design of the furniture front panel to a much greater extent than was previously possible, since, in contrast to previously common designs, it is not simply placed on the furniture front panel, but is to a certain extent integrated into it and forms part of the furniture front panel itself.

Further features of the innovation are the subject of subclaims.

In Fig. 1, the reference number 10 designates a furniture front panel, which can be used, for example, as a furniture door, flap, drawer panel or the like.

This furniture front panel 10 is provided with a handle part 11, which is integrated into a corner area of the furniture front panel 10.

The handle part 11 is made of an elastically deformable material, for example plastic or rubber. As Fig. 1 clearly shows, the .xff-

part 11 forms part of the entire furniture front panel 10, since, as already mentioned, it is installed in the corner area of this furniture front panel 10. The handle part 11 therefore also forms part of the longitudinal and side edges 13 or the furniture front panel 10.

Since the handle part 11 made of elastically deformable material is located in the corner area of the furniture front panel 10, bumping into this corner area is associated with comparatively little risk, since the handle part 11 is flexible due to its material properties.

In the embodiment of the innovation shown in Fig. 2 and 3, which largely corresponds to the embodiment according to Fig. 1 in terms of the pure shape of the handle part 11, the furniture front panel in the corner area where the handle part 11 is attached, on the one hand with a bevel 14 and on the other hand with a step 15. Both the bevel 14 and the step 15 are completely filled by the handle part 11, so that the entire corner of the furniture front panel 10 is again formed by the handle part 11.

In the transition area between the shoulder 15 and the corresponding surface 16 of the furniture front panel 10, the handle part 11 is provided with a protruding cover edge 17 resting on the surface 16, which covers the edge 18 delimiting the shoulder 15. Since the shoulder 15 can in practice only be covered by a

milling of the corresponding area of the furniture front panel 10, the cover edge 17 covers the resulting, usually slightly frayed edge 18 optically perfectly.

In the embodiment according to Figs. 4 and 5, the handle part 11 again forms part of the side edges 12 and the longitudinal edges 13 of the furniture front panel 10, and again in the corner area.

Apart from a different shape, the embodiment according to Figs. 4 and 5 corresponds technically to the embodiment according to Figs. 2 and 3.

The handle part 11 in the embodiment according to Fig. 6 is, like all the other handle parts 11 already mentioned, made of an elastically deformable material and is integrated into the furniture front panel 10 in such a way that it again forms part of the side edges 12 and the longitudinal edges 13 of the furniture front panel 10.

The illustrated embodiments make it clear that there are practically no limits to the design options for the handle parts 11 and thus the respective handle part 11 can be deliberately used for purely design purposes when laying out the design of a furniture front panel 10.

Going beyond the exemplary embodiments presented, it is of course also conceivable to use a furniture front panel 10 with a handle part 11 made of a soft, elastic material, which extends, for example, over the entire longitudinal edge 13 of a furniture front panel 10. Even in such a case, which is particularly useful for furniture front panels 10 for the formation of drawer fronts or the like, the risk of injury is significantly increased, since in this case too the longitudinal edge 13 on which one could bump into something is protected by the relatively flexible handle part 11.
