Clamping head for twist drills and the twist drill itself The coupling

is inserted into a cone of the machine spindle. As far as taking the drill with you:
on rotation comes into question, this cone coupling has proven itself; but otherwise
the cone coupling has some serious disadvantages that have hitherto been found in view
on which: on the other hand, the existing simplicity of the design is accepted

and are not kept clean enough during operation, causing deviations from the
A central position is created, which leads to the drill hitting. This beating
of the drill is also often caused by damaged machine spindle bearings.
These inherent inaccuracies, so to speak, have an effect apart
of the resulting inaccuracy of the drilling, especially in a premature one

According to the invention, the purpose is to couple the drill to the clamping head by means of a form fit,
which is coupled to the machine spindle in known white, namely the

such an arrangement has the great. Advantage! That with clamping the drill
automatic centering due to the symmetrical arrangement of the locking bodies
takes place and so from the beginning the hammering of the drill is avoided, as on the other hand
the length of the drill body stressed by twisting and pressure in the far
can be kept much shorter in most cases than: this with drills with

Reasons significantly reduced, because @ due to the good guidance of the drill in the clamping head
Vibrations are avoided and the application of force takes place on the circumference of the drill.
On the other hand, since the previously required conical shaft of the drill is no longer needed,

the drill significantly simplified. The invention should be based on the drawing

In the base body ii, locking bodies 15 are inserted at two opposite points in transverse bores or chambers L f. Instead of the balls, however, pins 151 (cf. Fig. 6) can also be used which are spherically shaped at their end facing the floor polisher. The chambers 14 are tapered in the direction of the bore 12 such that the locking body 1 5 extend only to a certain part in the bore 12, in any case can not fall into diesle. On the other hand, the chambers 14 are open to the outside, so that the blocking bodies 1 5 are to be moved so far outward that they can recede completely against the wall of the bore 12.

The base body ii is surrounded by an annular body 16 which can be freely adjusted in the axial direction between two stops formed, for example, from snap handles 17, 18. In, the Schfebemuffe 16 are in two opposite locations. Longitudinal grooves i introduced into which the locking bodies 15: are supported with their rear side when the sliding sleeve 16 comes to rest against the stop 17. In this position (see Fig. I), the locking bodies 15 are pressed into the bore 12, whereby they grip the legs in notches 2o of the drill. Shit to go back: the sliding cuffs 16 up to the stop 18, the locking body 1 5 is released by a conical recess 21 (see Fig. Ia) so far that they come out of engagement with the notches 20 of the drill 13 ..
gleichmäßig verteilt. Die Rasten können dabei radial oder tangential gerichtet stein;
dementsprechend werden auch die Bührun:gen bzw. Kammern 14 für die Sperrkörper 15
gerichtet.

The notches 2o are: arranged on the drill behind the cutting edges 22, that is, on the freely machined part 23 : and are evenly distributed over the entire length of the drill. The notches can be directed radially or tangentially stone; accordingly, the charges or chambers 14 for the locking body 15 are also directed. In order to always ensure a clear assignment of the turf 2o to the locking bodies 15 when adjusting the drill in the axial direction, the clamping head is closed by a plate 24 in which a passage opening 25 corresponding to the cross section of the drill is provided, so that with the axial adjustment: of the drill 13 that of the pitch: executes a rotation corresponding to the spiral flutes. At the same time, the plate 24 also prevents foreign bodies from entering the clamping head. The upper part of the drill 13 is provided with a cylindrical collar 26 which is ground to the nominal diameter of the drill and which then leads into the bore 12. At the beginning of the drilling work there is initially a slight twisting of the drill in the clamping head, under which a jamming takes place between the blocking bodies which are supported against the walls of the chambers 14 or the sleeve 16. The conditions are such that this jamming does not lead to self-locking, but rather is immediately lifted at the end of the drilling work, so that when the sleeve 16 is withdrawn, the drill 13 can be freely adjusted in the axial direction.

gekuppelt.
