The filling container can be easily filled with the scalp clips in the factory under sterile conditions, for example. On site, for example in the operating room , the scalp clips can then be easily inserted from the container into the magazine under sterile conditions.

It is particularly advantageous if the scalp clips are allowed to slide one after the other from the filling container into the magazine under the effect of gravity.

The filling container is preferably tubular and can be closed at the front by a removable lid. A preferred embodiment of a device according to the invention is characterized in that the insertion device on the magazine has a closable insertion opening and at least one abutment for the filling container, whereby the insertion opening can advantageously be closed by the housing of a roller spring that is slidably arranged on the magazine.

The scalp clip application device 1 shown in Fig. 1 comprises a handle 2 with an actuating latch 3 pivotably mounted on it. A magazine 4 with a U-shaped cross-section is connected to the handle 2 and projects freely forwards. This magazine holds C-shaped scalp clips in a manner known per se, which, when the latch 3 is actuated, each emerge individually from the front, open end 5 of the magazine and can be connected there to a piece of tissue (scalp). The scalp clips are arranged in a row in the magazine and are attached to the scalp using a lever at the rear end of the magazine.

As can be seen from the drawing, the housing 6 is movable in a sliding guide 7 in the rear part of the magazine and can be moved back and forth between an operating position (Fig. 4) and a filling position (Fig. 1, 2 and 3) and locked in the respective positions.

Fig. 2 shows the rear part of the magazine 4 with the housing 6 of the roller spring, the front end of which has a stop 8 that can be pushed forward under spring pressure. A filling container 11 holds the scalp clips to be filled into the magazine in a row one behind the other. Each scalp clip 12 comprises two clamping jaws 13, 14 that rest against one another in a spring-loaded manner and a curved web 15 that connects the clamping jaws, into the rear curvature of which the clamping jaws of a subsequent scalp clip engage, so that the scalp clips in the container 11 are tightly packed in a row one behind the other. The arrangement of the scalp clips 12 in the filling container 11 is the same as that which the scalp clips should take after being inserted into the magazine. The filling container 11 can be closed with a cover 16 that can be attached. Container 11 and lid 16 are tubular and have a square or rectangular cross-section. The scalp clips 12 are inserted sterilely into the filling container 11, which is then closed with the lid 16.

An insertion device for the filling container 11 is provided on the magazine 4. This comprises a recess 17 in the bottom of the magazine 4 and two funnel-shaped upward

directed, inwardly bent wall parts 18,19. The dimensions are such that the filling container 11 can be inserted with its open end in a self-retaining manner between the wall parts 18,19 and the recess 17 after the cover 16 has been removed. The lower wall 21 of the filling container 11 rests on two tabs 20 which form an abutment and which protrude inwards from the side walls of the magazine 4. In addition, the lower wall 21 of the container 11 can also rest on the outside of the housing 6. Overall, the filling container 11 is firmly connected to the magazine 4 via the described insertion device.

The mutual connection between the magazine 4 and the filling container 11 is initially made in the position shown in Fig. 2, with the magazine 4 slightly tilted upwards and the filling container 11 held essentially horizontally so that the scalp clips 12 cannot slip out of the container. After inserting the container 11 into the magazine 4, the latter can be tilted, as shown in Fig. 3, whereby the scalp clips 12 slide from the filling container 11 into the magazine 4 without changing their order and without separating from one another until the latter is completely full.

After emptying the container 11, it is pulled out of the insertion device on the magazine 4. The housing 6 is then moved from the position shown in Fig. 2 or 3 to the position shown in Fig. 4 and locked there. This enables the

The rear filling opening of the magazine, formed by the insertion device, is closed so that the scalp clips 12 cannot fall out. The stop 8 connected to the roller spring contained in the housing &dgr; can now rest on the rearmost scalp clip 12 and thereby pre-tension the entire row of scalp clips in the direction of the front, open end 5 of the magazine 4 under the pressure exerted by the roller spring, so that the clips can emerge one after the other when the latch 3 is actuated.

Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the filling container (11) is tubular and can be closed at the front by a removable lid (16). 3. Device according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the insertion device (17, 18, 19) on the magazine (4) has a closable insertion opening and at least one abutment (20) for the filling container (11). 4. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the insertion opening (17, 18, 19) can be closed by the housing (6) of a roller spring which is arranged displaceably on the magazine (4).
