Description

The innovation relates to a sound reproduction device with at least two loudspeakers arranged on opposite sides of the device emitting the sound signals to the loudspeakers, in particular for stereophonic devices.

Currently, various design solutions are known for the arrangement of loudspeakers on sound reproduction devices for stereo systems. The most common solutions can be described as follows:

1. The speakers are built into the front of the device.

2. The loudspeakers are built into the device on both sides and acoustic reflectors may be provided.

3. The device has separate or removable speaker enclosures.

4. Loudspeaker enclosures are attached to the front or back of the device and can be pivoted in a horizontal plane.

However, all these arrangements have disadvantages. The solutions according to points 1, 2 and 4 are not satisfactory because the stereo effect produced leaves much to be desired. The stereo effect is low, particularly in the case where the sound reproduction device is part of a television set, the proximity between the two sound sources resulting in a very low stereo effect.

The solution according to point 3 is only satisfactory in very few cases, because the user rarely separates the loudspeaker cabinets from the main part of the device, so that only a limited stereo effect can be produced due to the limited dimensions of the device to which the loudspeaker cabinets are attached.

The innovation is based on the task of providing an arrangement of loudspeakers on a sound reproduction device that enables satisfactory stereophonic reproduction.

In a sound reproduction device of the specified type, this task is solved in accordance with the innovation that each of the two loudspeakers is housed in a housing that is pivotably mounted on the device in a substantially vertical plane.

Thanks to this solution, the loudspeakers arranged on both sides of the device can be swivelled into a position during operation in which the horizontal distance between the loudspeakers is significantly increased compared to the rest position, which contributes to improving the stereo effect.

Further features and advantages of the innovation emerge from the subclaims and from the following description of embodiments, which are shown in the drawing.

The arrangement of Figures 1 to 3 shows the example of a television set 1, on each of whose two side walls 2 a loudspeaker housing 3 is pivotably mounted in a vertical plane. Each loudspeaker housing 3 is held on the side wall 2 by means of an angle-shaped support 4. The support 4 is attached to the television set 1 by means of screws 5 and has a pivot pin 6 around which the loudspeaker housing 3 is pivotally mounted in the support 4. A seat 7 is formed for the pivot pin 6 on the side of the support 4 facing away from the side wall 2, in which the pivot pin 6 runs horizontally and parallel to the opposite side wall 2 of the television set 2.

A pipe bend 8 is attached to the wall of the loudspeaker housing 3 opposite the side wall 2 of the television set 1. The pipe bend runs through an arc-shaped guide sleeve 10 attached to the side wall 2 by means of screws 9. An end stop 11 is attached to the free end of the pipe bend 8 inside the device 1, which limits the swivel angle of the loudspeaker housing 3 outwards. In order to ensure that the loudspeaker housing 3 swivels out smoothly, the guide sleeve 10 acts as a friction brake for the pipe bend 3.

Electrical connecting cables 12 run through the pipe bend 8 for conducting the audio signals from the device 1 to the loudspeakers housed in the loudspeaker housing 3.

In the embodiments of Figures 4 and 5, pivot rods 13 are provided for pivoting the loudspeaker housing 3, which connect the upper area of the loudspeaker housing 3 to the side wall 2 of the television set 1. In the example of Figure 4, the pivot rod 13 is hinged to a pivot point 14 of the device 1, while its opposite end can be moved in a longitudinal guide 15 of the loudspeaker housing 3.

In the example of Figure 5, the pivot rod 13 is linked in the opposite way, since the pivot rod 13 is connected to the loudspeaker housing 3 via a fixed pivot point 14 and can be moved vertically in a longitudinal guide 15 on the device 1.

In all embodiments, the maximum distance a (see Figure 3) between the two loudspeaker housings 3 increases in the swung-out state. It is advantageous if the loudspeakers 16 for the high tones are housed in the upper part of the respective loudspeaker housing 3. In this way, the stereophonic effect is improved because the loudspeakers 16, which contribute most to the creation of the stereophonic reproduction since they generate the high tones, have the greatest distance a from each other. This effect is achieved without increasing the structural dimensions of the device 1 in the support plane of the loudspeaker housings 3.

Of course, the arrangement according to the innovation is not limited to television sets, but can also be used with other sound reproduction devices with at least two loudspeakers.

The loudspeaker housings 3 can be moved into their swiveled-out position by hand. In addition, it is also possible to provide a drive motor that can be housed in the device 1 and that also switches on when the device 1 is switched on. Instead, it is also possible to provide a remote control device for switching on this drive motor, which is housed in the remote control device of the device 1.

Finally, it is also possible to accommodate the loudspeaker housings 3 in a retractable manner in the side walls 2 of the device 1, so that they do not protrude from the device 1 in their vertical position. When the device 1 is switched on, the drive motor can then swing the loudspeaker housings 3 out automatically.
