Front structure for self-supporting car bodies of motor vehicles For self-supporting
Car bodies of motor vehicles are known to have the main forces acting on
act on the vehicle to be absorbed by a support frame. Particularly torsion-resistant
and lightweight are those self-supporting constructions in which the lower side rails
Run through uncranked from the rear to the front axle and pressed through from sheet metal
Stiffeners are connected to each other. With such designs, the accommodation is
the front spring and the axle more difficult than with the upward cranked side
Longitudinal girders, with which, due to the cropping, a sufficiently large space to accommodate
this part arises. The invention creates a front structure for self-supporting
Car bodies of motor vehicles, in which the lower side rails of the floor
Go through uncranked up to the front axle and through stiffeners pressed from sheet metal
are interconnected, and the new thing is that as a stiffener for
the side rails in the interior of the car body have a saddle-like or tunnel-like design
and on the four lower corners of the saddle firmly connected to the side rails
serves, which carries the spring on its back. This is with dimensionally stable training
of the front building through the tunnel-like part of the spring bridge so much space
created,
that the drive shafts for the front wheels can be accommodated in these,
which are thus located above the side rails, so that the entire car body
can be kept very low. The spring for the front wheels, however, is from
captured the back of the saddle-like part and is in its suspension point with the
Front end so good. anchored that the driving characteristics impairing game
cannot occur.
The front part of the car body becomes particularly dimensionally stable after the
Invention further characterized in that the side rails form the side opening of the tunnel-like
complete trained spring bridge downwards.
wichtigen Teil bilden. Finally, it is also provided in the invention that the side rails
at its front end with the roof beam of the car body through indentations
the lateral engine cover plates formed profiles are connected. Such impressions
for stiffening the profiles are general in car bodies made of sheet metal
known, but in the embodiment according to the invention they have the special one
Advantage that they form continuations of the actual roof beams and thus
insert directly into the framework of the supporting framework, of which they are one
form important part.

Seitlich
26 und 2,7;
According to Figs. I and 2, the self-supporting car body has a floor panel i with a rear spring tunnel 2 and a front splashboard 3, which extends to the level of the lower edge of the windshield frame 4. To the rear, the floor i is extended to the rear 6 of the car body by means of a sheet metal part 5. On the side of the floor i, box-shaped longitudinal beams 7 and 8 are formed by profiled sheets placed on the floor i, and these longitudinal beams are extended in the form of box profiles i7 and 18 to the top of the car body. Behind the spring tunnel 2, two box girders 2o and 2z formed from U-shaped sheet metal profiles set on box-shaped hand reinforcements ig of the floor section 5, which run above the window openings 22 and 23 and also serve as roof beams 24, 25. They are led down further to the front and at the same time form the front windshield and door stop posts 26 and 2,7; they are welded to the side longitudinal members 7 and 8 by means of additional corner stiffeners. The roof beams 24 and 25 are extended to the front edge of the car body so that triangular profiles 30, 31 are pressed into the lateral engine cover plates 28, 29. The dimensionally stable association formed by the longitudinal beams 17 and 18 and the profiles 30, 31 as well as the splash plate 3 is reinforced in the transverse direction by a saddle-like spring bridge 32 (Fig. 2), which is connected to the two beams 17, 18 by spot welding . It consists of two identical pressed sheet metal parts 33 and 34, of which part 33 is shown in FIG. The parts 33 and 34 are pressed as a trapezoidal frame with a U-shaped cross-section and connected to one another in such a way that a spring shell 35, which is likewise U-shaped in cross-section, is created to accommodate the front wheel spring. A cross connection 36 additionally stiffens the front part of the car body.
