Description

Process for the production of molded bodies from electrical insulating material in foam form Among the organic plastics used as electrical insulating materials have found their way into technology, especially the polystyrene is characterized, as there is an extremely small loss angle and a very low dielectric constant owns. It has therefore already been proposed several times to use this material for construction of apparatus parts that are manufactured by the injection molding process. It has also been suggested to use polystyrene to build up the insulation Cables to use; however, this has the disadvantage that this The material is extremely brittle mechanically, so that it can be used for insulation of flexible lines encounters difficulties. It has also become known To dissolve polystyrene in a solvent, the resulting paint on a Apply conductor and heat treatment to create a porous structure of the polystyrene bring about. It is also known in molten polystyrene gases such as methylene chloride or Dimet'hvläther, to dissolve under high pressure and this mixture under pressure relief to solidify, whereby the polystyrene is blown up into bubbles. These procedures however, they are not suitable for the production of porous moldings.

The invention relates to a process for the production of moldings made of electrical insulating material, which is made of foam-shaped polystyrene or a similar polymerized acrylolefin. The @ # experience consists in that brought the mentioned insulating materials into the dueling state will. This can be achieved by leaving the polystyrene oil at ordinary temperature in a suitable solvent, such as. B. acetone can swell. The resulting plastic gel is now brought according to the invention in a shape that the desired Molded body corresponds. Care should be taken that the shape is not complete is filled by the gel, otherwise there is no possibility for it to develop the foam structure would be given. After the gel is placed in the mold, will this, preferably using negative pressure, heated, wherein the swelling agent is expelled. This creates the foam structure of the polystyrene, which is now fills in the given form.

Such a foam-shaped insulating body shows due to the relatively the thin membranes made of polystyrene still have great mechanical strength a sufficient mechanical resistance, but has the homogeneous polystyrene compared to the advantage of a much smaller dielectric constant. The polystyrene may contain additives of softeners or hardening substances or other fillers, how to use them to achieve the mechanical or dielectric desired in each case Considers properties appropriate.

The drying process under vacuum can depending on the desired fill factor or the desired shape of the internal structure, d. H. depending on how big the individual is Pores within the mass and how big the wall thickness of the cells are made should be made with a lower or higher negative pressure. But it is it is also possible to produce the foam-like mass by other methods. So can for example, the swollen or dissolved mass without using a vacuum just dry it out by applying an elevated temperature.

Do you want something like (them in concentric high-frequency cables for support of the inner conductor are used, so you can according to the invention Bring the swollen mass into a shape that corresponds to the desired spacing and can then expose the mass in this form to a drying process under vacuum. The swollen mass, which initially took on the form, as I said, is by no means complete may fill in, will rise like a foam under the influence of the drying process and lean against the walls of the mold. In this way, any other fittings, such as those used in apparatus engineering, are produced. But you can also use other shapes from the mass, such as threads, ribbons, rods, tubes etc., in the manner indicated.
