Description

The invention relates to an electrical conductor with insulation of high heat resistance and conductivity, which is particularly suitable for the production of windings in electrical machines and the like. The invention has the particular object of preventing heat build-up in windings or the like with conductors subjected to high electrical loads. The conductor insulation should, on the one hand, be of high electrical quality, but on the other hand not apply too much. According to the invention, the conductor insulation consists of two layers, one of which, a thin base layer, consists of multiple coverings of a heat-resistant, electrically high-quality varnish, which is intimately connected to the second, a cover layer of higher thermal ele itability than that of the base layer, -is connected, -which consists of several coverings of filler-containing varnish. For the base layer, for example, a sufficiently heat-resistant polyamide, polyvinyl acetate or the like or silicone and similar heat-resistant organic silicon compounds can be used. Aluminum powder, aluminum oxide, zinc oxide, kaolin, slag wool, etc. are suitable as fillers for the paint on the top layer. The paint on the top layer can consist of the same substances as that of the base layer. However, other lacquer bases can also be used for this purpose, but only those that bond closely to the base layer. In order to facilitate such an intimate connection, it is advisable not to fully cure the base layer before the top layer is applied and, in particular, to apply the top layer to the base layer in immediate succession. When using silicone varnishes, an intimate connection between the two layers usually occurs automatically because each subsequent layer of varnish partially dissolves the underlying layer or causes it to swell on the surface.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing in enlarged Scale shown. On a copper wire z sits a thin base layer a, the is connected to a thicker cover layer 3. The layers are as above Properties.

The invention offers the following advantages: The thin base layer is an electrically high-quality, sufficiently heat-resistant insulation, which because of its low strength does not cause a greater thermal gradient. The top layer that too makes a significant contribution to electrical insulation, it conducts heat well to the outside off, so no heat is accumulated. It also protects the base layer mechanically when processing the wire. Because they are intimately connected with the base layer it adheres firmly to it and cannot detach from it. Also favors the intimate connection of the two layers the heat transfer.
