The purpose of the MULTI-PART" DECATH BOARD GAME is to represent a nearly realistic decathlon while maintaining the competition rules.

This was achieved by a suitable design of the

jf discipline discs' (6) and a turntable (7).

1) The lines that mark the ZfOOm track in the decathlon have been adopted. They contain a red, several black and white circular fields on which the playing pieces are moved*. The playing field also contains two card fields and a field for placing the turntable.

2) For each discipline, 20 written playing cards were created, with the corresponding discipline written on the back. They contain statements that have a significant influence on the course of the game.

3) Each player needs a dice to play the game. The dice are used to bring the playing cards into play.

To Zf) The playing pieces are marked with flags of different cations. They are placed on the dice according to the number of

the ZfOOm orbit.

5) The points are graded according to 10, 20, 50, ];00,

200, 500, 1 000 _s> 2 000 and 5 000 points and are distributed according to the number of points awarded.

6) The discipline targets are circular and have a diameter of 8.5 mm. They are perforated in the middle.* The discipline targets are labelled with realistic heights, widths, times and the points awarded for them.* Except for the running disciplines, all targets are provided with failed attempts, marked with a -0-. To determine the exact number of points, the individual heights, widths and times are provided with dividing lines. The respective discipline can be found on the back of the target.

7) The turntable consists of a rotating plate with a wick in the middle on which the discipline discs are placed. The turntable also has a rotating lid that is placed on the wick of the rotating plate. The rotating lid is circular and has a viewing window. In the middle of the viewing window there is an arrow for precisely determining the number of points. Above the rotating lid there is a small hat in the middle for turning the lid.

To give a comprehensive example, I have included the rules for the Decathlon board game.

Rules for the MULTI-PART DECATAL BREATH GAME

The decathlon board game is designed to be like a real decathlon. All of the decathlon disciplines have been adopted.

1. GAME PREPARATIONS

First, the turntable is placed on the area provided. Then the first discipline disc (iÖOm run) is placed on the turntable. The discipline cards belonging to the discipline are shuffled and placed on the card field. Then the game pieces are placed on the starting field. Next, a dice is rolled to determine who starts the game.

After each completed discipline, the playing cards and the discipline discs are exchanged.

2. START OF THE GAME

Each player must now turn the turntable once and immediately receives points for the number of points they have achieved.* This completes the first discipline on the turntable. A selected player now writes down the times and points of each player, as these can be increased or decreased by drawing the playing cards.

The continuation of the first discipline begins on the playing field. The first player begins to roll the dice. His playing piece is moved anti-clockwise by the number of dots on the dice. If a playing piece lands on a black field, the player must draw a playing card. The playing card tells the player whether he receives points or has to give them up. The playing cards contain three jokers per discipline. The drawn playing card is placed on the free card field. If the playing piece lands on the red field, the player receives a bonus of 50 points. If the player places the playing piece on a white field, he does not intervene in the game and the next player begins to roll the dice. The dice are rolled until all the playing cards of the

first discipline; are drawn. Then the game piece is placed back on the starting square.

Now the second discipline disc is placed on the turntable. The game now proceeds as described for the first discipline. This pattern is followed until the tenth and final discipline. After the last card of the tenth discipline has been drawn, each player adds up their points. The player who has achieved the highest number of points has won the game. The highest number of points is the record, which must be improved in the next games.

3. Important information

In the decathlon board game, it is important to note that the discipline cards are placed in the order given here and in accordance with reality: 100m run, long jump, shot put, high jump, 100m run, 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, _javelin throw and 1,500m run.

Only one attempt is permitted for each of the running discipline targets. There are no failed attempts allowed for this discipline.

In the other disciplines, each player has three attempts, although failed attempts, marked with - O -, are possible. Points are awarded for each player's best attempt. If a player has three failed attempts in a discipline, he receives no points.

s· Special feature

As an additional special feature, record targets are included for the high jump and pole vault disciplines. The players who reach the record height on the normal target have three further attempts on the record target.

The record times, distances and heights are marked in red on all display boards.
