Soweit als bis jetzt Ansichten über die Natur des in der Thyreo'idea enthaltenen wirksamen Stoffes geäufsert worden sind, hat man denselben als eine eiweifsartige Substanz (Notkin, Wiener med. Diese Beständigkeit gegenüber Säuren hat uns nun auf einen Weg zur Isolirung dieser wirksamen Substanz geführt. Wir haben nämlich gefunden, dafs beim Kochen der Thyreoidea mit verdünnten Säuren und Abkühlen der resultirenden Lösung sich ein Niederschlag bildet, welcher diese wirksame Substanz enthält.
