Man hat schon niedermolekulare Alkylsiloxane durch Druckerhitzung
zu höhermolekularen viskosen Alkylsiloxanv erbindungen umgesetzt. One already has low molecular weight alkylsiloxanes through pressure heating
converted to higher molecular weight, viscous alkylsiloxane compounds.
Hierbei entstehen niedrigvislcose Produkte mit höherem Siedepunkt (über 2oo°).The present invention relates to a method of production
of low-viscosity allylsiloxanes, which consists in the fact that both low-
such as higher molecular weight alkylsiloxanes of pressure heating at such a temperature
subject, in which a partial decomposition of the starting material takes place.
This results in low-viscosity products with a higher boiling point (over 2oo °).
in Prozenten angibt.
Produkten angegeben. To illustrate the effect of this measure, for example, a viscous, higher boiling and higher molecular weight dimethylsiloxane, as it is, for. D. after distilling off the volatile constituents from the hydrolyzate of dimethyldichlorosilane, which is referred to in Table I as [(C H3) 2 S 'O] a, is subjected to a reaction in a pressure vessel at a higher temperature, preferably at 500 °. The ratio of the volume of dimethylsiloxane used and the volume of the pressure vessel is given as a percentage. The reaction products are examined using a distillation sample,% of which the first fraction represents the percentage that distills over at 100 ° and 30 mm Hg and the second fraction represents the percentage that passes over at 2q0 ° and 7 mm H-, while R represents the remaining distillation residue in Indicating percentages. To further explain the two Tables I and 1I, the solidification point MP, the appearance of the reaction product and the finding whether pressure is still present after the reaction and after cooling are given, with + representing pressure and - not representing pressure. The viscosity of the reaction product is given in centistokes at 30 ° and at 6o and 9o 'for the products corresponding to the invention.
Comparing those performed in Table I with [(C H3) 2 Si O] n
Experiments, the properties of which can be seen from the first row, one sees
that at a.oo 'there is an increase in viscosity, while at 5oo = already one
slight carbon deposition occurs with simultaneous yellow coloration of the product.
The longer the reaction lasts at 500 °, the thinner the product becomes.
Instead of these higher molecular compounds, one can also use low molecular compounds
Subject alkylsiloxanes to such a pressure heating and then arrive at the same
higher-boiling, low-viscosity alkylsiloxanes. This finding is shown in Table II
on the basis of the cyclic tetrameric dimethylsiloxane [(CH3) 2Si0] 4 explained in more detail.
It is precisely this tetramer that is proportionate because of its low boiling point and for oils
high freezing point for technical purposes hardly usable. Experiments 2 to
q. show even at 500 'with a suitable choice of the ratio of filling volume
a steady increase in viscosity in relation to the total volume and the corresponding reaction time,
without any pressure after it has cooled down.
If now the same experiment as = ie: 4, but with one degree of filling
of 720/0 instead of 65%, then once after cooling down there is still pressure
on, and the product obtained is high-boiling, fluid and has a deep
Freezing point. At the same time it shows a slight yellow color and slight carbon deposition.
A comparison between experiments 5 and 6 shows with a longer reaction time
as in Table I for experiment 3 and q., a further decrease in viscosity,
without the proportion of higher-boiling components changing significantly. However
even after the first and second fractions have been distilled off, these products become
always obtained easily liquid, high-boiling compounds. For the course of the reaction
of Trials 5 and 6 in Table II, Trial 3 is representative; H. the way
from low-boiling, low-viscosity, cyclic alkylsiloxanes to higher-boiling,
easily liquid compounds leads to such pressure heating over the viscous
Connections that form first and then continue to form the desired connections
be transferred, all of which have a high boiling point and a very low freezing point
have a low viscosity.
The implementation of this process is thus dependent on both temperature,
Volume and time given and of course not limited to that
in the example given methylsiloxanes, but can with the appropriate setting
the reaction conditions can be transferred to the other alkylsiloxanes.
