Um die auf Stickoxyde im Gas zurückzuführende bekannte Gumbildung zu verhüten, hat man bereits vorgeschlagen, eine restlose Entteerung der Destillationsgase auf elektrischem Wege in den bekannten Elektrofiltern durchz.u!führen. Diese Maßnahme erfordert aber naturgemäß eine Überdimensionierung bzw. Hintereinander- oder Nachschaltung mehrerer Elektrofilter und damit einen erheblichen Kostenaufwand, zumindest in den Anlagekosten.
