Description

Process for the production of electrically conductive rail connectors ScltieneitN-Erl) Indians are used in all electrical Tracks for the electrical bridging of the Rail joints required, as far as the rails are not are welded together anyway. Normal wise, a rail connector consists of a Copper braid with two steel heads, which are instead of learning to use the brakes on the wire be cliweil) t. Dicse steel heads with the intermediate strand are then on the Route by arc welding to the Rails attached themselves. ' So are for everyone Rail joint a total of four welds, and two in the workshop and two on the Route required. This fact has to led that in the case of railways increasingly whose rail connectors are used, with in most cases a screw connection between the steel heads and the rails is seen. These purely mechanical connections but require a higher production price, because the rails have to be specially drilled for this purpose, and the transition resistance is greater than with a welded connection. A screwed rail connector also has the disadvantage that the connection can be released and stolen relatively easily.

The invention relates to a method for the production of electrically conductive rail connectors, in which the described shortcomings of known methods are avoided. The method according to the invention consists in welding the stranded wire serving as a rail connector to both rails using the thermite method. Thermite welding is well known and widely used in railway companies for joining the rails. The copper braid is expediently welded without special steel heads in a thermite material with both ends at the same time to the two rails to be electrically connected. To carry out such welds, all that is required is a twin thermite mold, which allows simultaneous welding at both ends of the strand, and a crucible which is common for both weld points and enables thermite casting at both connection points at the same time. In the workshop only the A is bschneiden of the strand in the intended length necessary in such a process.
