an a, ß-Dichlorpropionsäure erhalten. Außerdem ist die Trennung des unerwünschten
a. a-Dichlorproduktes von dem a, ß-Dichlorderivat recht schwierig.
Process for the production of a, ß-dichloropropionyl chloride 1? In technical
A simple way to obtain the x, ß-dihalogenated propionic acid is not yet
known. According to the information in German patent specification S79 63.4, α, β-dichloropropionic acid can be used
obtained by chlorination of α-chloropropionic acid; however, as a result
the a, a-dichloropropionic acid formed as a by-product only poor yields
obtained in α, ß-dichloropropionic acid. Also, the separation of the undesirable
a. a-dichloro product of the a, ß-dichloro derivative quite difficult. Finally lets
This is the reason why this process is used for the production of α, β-dichloropropionyl chloride
do not use because it does not succeed with the help of the usual chlorination method,
to obtain appreciable amounts' of the a, ß-dichloropropionyl chloride. Other display options,
such as the addition of halogen to acrylics or the route via glyceric acid,
have no technical significance as they are too uneconomical.
Etwa entstandene höher chlorierte Produkte sieden so hoch,
It has now been found that the acid chloride of α, β-dichloropropionic acid can be obtained in uniform reaction with good yields if β-chloropropionyl chloride is treated with chlorine at temperatures below its boiling point. By irradiating with an effective light source or by using known chlorination catalysts, the chlorination can be substantially eliminated. Temperatures of 70 to 10 o ° have proven to be the best temperature for chlorination, but these can be reduced by the acceleration measures mentioned. By using an excess of ß-chloropropionyl chloride and especially in a continuous process, chlorine uptake to even higher chlorinated propionyl chloride can be almost completely eliminated. The separation of the a, ß-dichloropropionyl chloride from the unreacted starting material is easy to carry out. Any higher chlorinated products formed boil so high that the desired α, β-dichloro compound can easily be distilled off from them.
halogensubstituierten aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffeh zuerst an jedem Kohlenstoff
a, ß-Dichlorpropionylchlorids.
2. In 3 Mo/ ß-ClilorpropionN,lchlorid,
The uniform chlorination in the a-position is surprising since, according to a known rule (Ber. 54 [192t], p. 2), a further halogenation of already halogen-substituted aliphatic hydrocarbons takes place first on each carbon on which there is already a halogen atom. It enables a technically well-cooked route for the production of α, ß-dichloropropionyl chloride, which is a valuable raw material for plastics. The easy cleavage of hydrochloric acid in the α, ß-dichloropropionic acid chloride allows the production of important α-chloroacrylic acid derivatives. EXAMPLES 1. 3 mol of chlorine are passed in 3 mol of β-chloropropionyl chloride at 80 ° with stirring over the course of 6 hours. It is best to work in a chlorination vessel under reflux cooling with cold lye. When the introduction of the chlorine has ended, the reaction product is distilled over a column under reflux in vacuo at 20 mm. 520/0 of non-chlorinated ß-chloropropionyl chloride, calculated on the amount of starting material, is recovered. The yield of α, β-dichloropropionyl chloride (bp "= 55 to 56 °), calculated on the amount of starting product converted, is 66 '/ 2%, calculated on the total amount of starting product 32%. The remainder of the β-chloropropionyl chloride converted is in more highly chlorinated products have been converted. ß, ß-Dichloropropionyl chloride cannot be detected in the reaction products. 2. In 3 Mo / ß-ClilorpropionN, lchloride, to which 1% anhydrous egg, zenclilorid were previously added, are stirred at 8o "and below Reflux cooling 3 Mo / chlorine initiated in 6 hours. After the reaction has ended, a dark colored liquid is obtained, which is distilled in an acute 1W-1 20 ml. A first run of 6% unchanged ß-Clilorl) rop'onylclilorid is obtained. At 55 to 56 ° ; 'in 1 then distills over (reads x, ß-dichloropropionyl chloride. The yield is 20/0 of the theory of the converted ß-chloropropionyl chloride. Here, too, more highly chlorinated products are formed, but no ß, ß-dichloropropionyl chloride, as in the following examples.
Die Ausbeute all a, ß-Dichlorpropionylchlorid beträgt 68% der Theorie.3. One works in the same way as described in Example 2,
I used small amounts of iodine as a catalyst instead of iron chloride.
The yield of all α, β-dichloropropionyl chloride is 68% of theory.
4. Mal' arbeitet, wie unter 2 beschrieben. Als Katalvsator verwendet
man ' % Schwefelblüte. Die Ausbeute beträgt 73% der Theorie.4th time 'works as described under 2. Used as a catalyst
man '% sulfur bloom. The yield is 73% of theory.
The outer, approximately 130 cc comprehensive shell of a cooler, which is made of a material transparent to ultraviolet rays glass hourly 125cc ß-chloropropionyl chloride, the g 18-chloro offset, passed under exposure to a mercury vapor lamp. The temperature is kept at 40 to 50 °. After the excess starting material has been distilled off, the residue contains 88% α, β-dichloropropionyl chloride, which passes over at 53 to 56 ° / 2o mm.
