Description
Process for the manufacture of plastic explosives with immutable Detonation velocity According to an earlier method the inventors are intended for Explosive cutting cartridges based on the evaluation of the well-known Munroe or hollow charge effect based, among other things, plastic explosives are used, de on the Basis of nitropentaerythritol or hexogen (Cyclotrimethylene trinitrami.n) and gelatinized nitroglycerin.
When using cutting cartridges manufactured in this way, it was surprisingly found that the detonation velocity, which was originally around 8,000 m / sec, had dropped by 2 to 3,000 m after storage for a few weeks. With this reduced detonation speed, the shaped charge effect is practically nonexistent or only very: insignificant. With this observation it has been established that such highly explosive mixtures, in contrast to the information in previous publications, undergo considerable aging with a reduction in the detonation speed. The content of the crystalline explosives nitropentaerythritol and hexogen is therefore not yet sufficient to overcome the braking resistance of the colloidal part of the explosive.
However, Dr. S tettbacher in patent specification 500 272 that the ignitability against lead azide and the penetrating power of mixtures of pure nitroglycerin and nitropentavrythritol decrease sharply, if the nitroglycerin content is 30% and above. A high content of the liquid demolition oil thus already considerably reduces the detonation sensitivity and speed. On the basis of this reference, it can therefore be explained that the gelatinized nitroglycerin must show the appearance to an even greater extent.
As a result of these aging phenomena, mixtures of nitropentaerythritol or Hexogen with gelatinized nitroglycerine as an explosive for explosive cutting cartridges not suitable.
In accordance with the present invention, the surprising observation has been made It has been discovered that, in contrast to nitroglycerin, nitroglycol is also found in gelatinized State behaves differently and does not show the reprimanded signs of aging.
In earlier patent specifications, as in the already attracted Patent 500272 and the patent 5i8 300 Nitroglycol has been mentioned beiliäufig next nitroglycerin '. The mention of nitroglycol is apparently only in principle, without the inventors having recognized that nitroglycol occupies a special position with regard to the type of detonation development. Quite apart from the higher detonation speed of such mixtures, which is actually 820 ° to $ 400 m / sec, these do not show the decrease in the detonation speed with increasing storage time, which is mentioned in the case of nitroglycerin mixtures. Mixtures of 70% nitropentaerythritol or hexogen with 30% gelatinized nitroglycol have so far not resulted in a drop in speed even after more than two years of storage and during detonation without containment. In contrast to the nitroglycerin mixtures, these mixtures can therefore be regarded as absolutely resistant to aging. With regard to this property, they are the given explosive for the explosive cutting cartridges which are very sensitive to a drop in the detonation rate.
Das Verhüitnis der niedrigsten zur höchsten Detonationsgeschwindigkeit beträgt somit etwa 3,35.As a result of the unusual constancy of the detonation speed under any given conditions of the detonation, dammed or not dammed, these 'mixtures represent an excellent explosive for almost all purposes and therefore do not show the characteristic effect when smaller amounts of explosives are used, the new mixtures enable expressions of effects, even with the smallest amounts, to the extent that they were previously not known when performing blasting work. As an example, it should be mentioned that z. B. the well-known dynamite I with 651 / o gelatinized nitroglycerin when detonated without damming and with normal initiation only shows a detonation speed of about 1500 to 2500 m / sec, on average around 200o m / sec. With the strongest damming in the seamless steel pipe with welded-on bottom, the detonation speed increases to the maximum value of 6700 m / sec. The ratio of the lowest to the highest detonation velocity is about 3.35.
In contrast to this, the speed of the above-mentioned mixture of 30% gelatinized nitroglycol and nitropentaerythritol or hexogen exposed is 8200 m / sec and in the most dammed state is 8400 m / sec. The ratio in this case is A, 024. This coefficient thus represents a measure of the detonation sensitivity of an explosive and expresses how the detonation development proceeds with the most diverse types of containment.
