Bei der Weiterentwicklung des durch das Patent 811 270 geschützten Verfahrens wurde nun gefunden, daß man auch bei einer anderen Reihenfolge des Zusammenschmelzens der überfangenen Gläser zu einem schichtweise gefärbten Glaskörper gelangt, aus dem ebenfalls Zylinder, Glasstäbe und ähnliche Elemente für Schmuckzwecke mit ausgezeichneter dekorativer Wirkung erhalten werden können. Erfindungsgemäß wird derart verfahren, daß ein überfangenes Glas mit einem zweiten überfangenen Glas durch oberflächliches Verschmelzen so verbunden wird, daß die beiden ungefärbten Grundglasschichten aufeinanderfallen. Es entsteht dabei eine in Schichten gefärbte Glastafel, deren Färbung in der Reihenfolge gefärbte Überfangschicht, farbloses, getrübtes oder milchglasartiges Glas und wiederum gefärbte Überfangschicht verläuft.
