The invention relates to a device for displaying the charging voltage
of capacitors in flash units with a light source fed by a capacitor
(Gas discharge, slampe). On electrical capacitors for powering flash units
display arrangements for reaching the lightning voltage are already in place
which essentially consisted of a glow lamp, the ignition voltage of which was the same
the charging voltage of the capacitor necessary for the operation of the flashlight unit
was. Although this glow lamp ignited when the desired charging voltage was reached, it did
it did not go out again if the tension was retrospectively for some reason
decreased; rather, it continued to glow unchanged until the charging voltage
had dropped to the significantly lower extinguishing voltage of the lamp. That
Glowing of this lamp offered no guarantee that the charging voltage was real
still existed in the full desired height, so that when using such devices
Flashes of very different intensities were created and some of those produced in this way
photographic images was underexposed.
Hilfskondensators sofort wieder zusammenbricht. Erst wenn der Hauptkondensator;
According to the invention is therefore proposed in parallel to one
preferably adjustable partial resistance of a high-resistance parallel branch to the
Capacitor, the voltage of which is to be displayed, a glow lamp with a to
to connect their parallel capacitor, which is only a small one in relation to the first
Has capacity. This achieves .that up to a set voltage level
Tilting vibrations arise that cause the glow light to flicker because
the voltage of the charged second capacitor parallel to the glow lamp
sufficient to ignite the lamp, the electrical energy stored in it
but not enough to keep the glow going because the tension is this
Auxiliary capacitor collapses again immediately. Only when the main capacitor;
whose charge voltage is to be displayed, full or up to the desired voltage level
is charged, the glow lamp shows continuous light as soon as the voltage of the main capacitor
on the other hand, if it drops again, those which cause the glow lamp to flicker are formed again
Tilting vibrations off. The flickering can be observed very clearly, so that the further
The advantage is that the continuous light only needs to be of low intensity,
the parallel branch to the main capacitor can therefore have a very high resistance. The user
knows that the moment the conspicuous flickering of the glow lamp ceases
the main capacitor has been charged to the desired extent.
As mentioned, the use of this display device is of particular importance
in flash units for photographic purposes.
The drawing inclines a circuit diagram for one with one according to the invention

The main capacitor t is charged with the voltage U until the
The energy stored in it is sufficient to cause the gas discharge lamp to become lightning-like
Bring light up. A high-resistance branch is located parallel to the capacitor t,
which contains a fixed resistor R and an adjustable resistor P. the
Adjustability of this resistance has the advantage that the device for different

can be. If necessary, an adjustment scale can be provided, which according to the
the amount of light emitted can be calibrated.
