Zum Ziehen von Draht werden Ziehtrommeln benutzt, von der Art, wie
sie in der. Abb. i in Ansicht dargestellt ist. Sie bestehen aus einem schwach konischen
Zylinder i, der am unteren Ende mit einer Verdickung oder einem Bund 2 versehen
ist. An diesem Bund 2 befindet sich eine Aussparung 3, von der aus eine Führungsnut
4 zu dem oberen konischen Teil i verläuft. Die Aussparung 3 dient der Unterbringung
einer nicht dargestellten Zange, die mit einer Kette am Bundumfang befestigt ist.
Mit dieser Zange, die um ein beträchtliches Stück von der Trommel entfernt werden
kann, wird bei Beginn des Ziehens das durch die Ziehhohle geführte angespitzte Ende
des Drahts erfaßt und durch Umdrehung der Trommel zunächst an diese herangezogen,
um dann während des Herumlegens um den Bund durch die Führungsnut dem oberen konischen
Teil i zugeführt zu werden. Wenn genügend Windungen, meist zwei oder drei, sich
auf den Trommelumfang aufgelegt haben, wird die Zange gelöst und das Ende des Drahts
am oberen Teil i etwa bei 5 mittels einer ebenfalls nicht dargestellten Klemmvorrichtung
