Description

Welding of plastics The welding of thermoplastics encounters great difficulties compared to that of metals because By their nature, plastics are poor conductors of heat, i.e. the heat of welding can only be fed into it very slowly. You knew how to help yourself that one divided weld seams into many small beads and these from thin, of outside heated plastic rods formed. But it is impossible that way Reliably weld large areas of two plastic bodies together. It it has now been found that this problem is solved perfectly if the required for the transformation of the plastics into a plastic, weldable state Heating by ultra-short waves takes place, because these have the ability to radiate through to generate heat from bodies inside as well as on their surfaces. It it is only necessary to connect the plastic body to be welded to the one to be connected Place surfaces on top of each other and irradiate them, which is useful after reaching the necessary temperature a certain pressure is exerted that the connection of the Body causes each other. So z. B. strong plastic sheets are required, which are welded together from thin lamellas from the rolling process. Up until now you tried to do this on presses with heated plates and came anyway this long on the stacks of art fabric fairies This does not lead to a reliable result. With ultra-short waves that succeed Heating through much faster and completely reliable, because the beam is simultaneous Heat each of the lamellas completely evenly among themselves. Heat losses through radiation can be avoided by removing the electrodes than the parts most affected by it by normal and known means heatable and / or insulated. However, ultra-high waves also offer advantages in welding of seams. Instead of forming them from individual sweat sticks, as described above, it is possible to form the seams from overlaps, these with applied on both sides To irradiate electrodes and the doubled material after reaching the plastic To compress the state to a simple material thickness or the seams from both sides to form skived parts and then to close them by means of the two electrodes weld. For this purpose, the electrodes can be designed so that they can be moved by hand. It was further found that after the process described, not only Weld plastic parts of the same type to one another 1, but also parts made of plastics of various kinds, and that in this way parts made of thermoplastic Connect plastic with parts made of any other material, such as wood or metal can, provided that the plastic has the required adhesion when heated on the other material.
