Verfahren zur Herstellung von aliphatischen Thioäthercarbonsäuren
und deren Salzen
Es wurde gefunden, daß man wertvolle aliphatische
Thioäthercarbonsäuren bzw. deren Salze erhält, wenn
man aliphatische Chlorverbindungen, die höchstens
4 Iü>hlenstoffatome unmittelbar aneinander gebunden
enthalten, ohne Mitverwendling wesentlicher :Mengen

Geeignete aliphatische Chlorverbindungen sind z.B.
:lthyldil@@rid, All@lclilorid, ls@@l»itylchloricl, 4-('1110r-

Chloracetaldehyddimethylacetal.Process for the preparation of aliphatic thioether carboxylic acids and their salts It has been found that valuable aliphatic
Thioether carboxylic acids or their salts, if

Suitable aliphatic chlorine compounds are, for example
: lthyldil @@ rid, All @ lclilorid, ls @@ l »itylchloricl, 4 - ('1110r-
butene (i), chloroethyl alcohol, ethylene chloride, 1, S and 1,4-dichlorobutane, mono- and dichlorodimethyl ethers, mono- and dichlorodiethyl ethers, 1-chloropropanol (3) or chloroacetaldehyde dimethyl acetal.
As aliphatic mercaptocarboxylic acids come z. B. Mercaptoacetic acid
or α-mercaptopropionic acid into consideration. : You can also, instead of pure mercaptocarboxylic acids
starting out, immediately use the aqueous solutions that you found in the implementation
of alkali salts of aliphatic halocarbons; iures with alkali hydrostylsides
receives.
The thioether carboxylic acids are produced by
one the aliphatic chlorine compound directly, expediently at temperatures between
about 40 and go ', in the aqueous solution of the dialkali salts of the aliphatic mercaptocarboxylic acids
stirs in. It is expedient to use equivalent amounts of the reactants or
a small excess of the mercaptocarboxylic acid salt. Surprisingly
occurs smoothly, although the chlorine compounds as such are insoluble in water
are. When the total amount of the chlorine compound is reacted, the reaction mixture becomes
acidified if desired in order to set the thioether carboxylic acid free.
The salts of the thioether carboxylic acids are obtained in the usual way by evaporation
or double reaction with salts of other metals.
The thioether carboxylic acids obtained and their salts are valuable
Intermediate products, in particular for plasticizers and plastics.

Die Ausbeute beträgt go°;/° der Theorie. The parts used in the following examples are parts by weight. Example i 92 parts of mercaptoacetic acid are dissolved in a solution of 80 parts of sodium hydroxide in 250 parts of water. 76.5 parts of allyl chloride are introduced with stirring at 40 to 50 'and stirring is continued for an hour at this temperature. Acidification with dilute sulfuric acid gives 113.5 parts of allyl mercaptoacetic acid, which boil at 100 to 112 'at 0.8 mm pressure. Example 2 92.5 parts of isobutyl chloride are added dropwise to a solution of 92 parts of mercaptoacetic acid and 80 parts of sodium hydroxide in 250 parts of water at about 70 °. The mixture is stirred for a further 2 hours, at the end of which the temperature is increased to go '. Acidification with dilute sulfuric acid gives 133 parts of isobutyl mercaptoacetic acid with a boiling point of 10.8 * at 2.5 mm pressure. The yield is about 100% of theory.

By acidifying the cooled solution with dilute sulfuric acid, the ethylene-bis-mercaptoacetic acid is precipitated in the form of white crystals. The yield is 183 parts = 870% of theory. Melting point after recrystallization from water 107 to 10 8 '.
