Description
Electric Discharge Tube The present invention relates to electric discharge tubes containing multiple grids, and in particular on the fixing of the wires of at least two successive grids.
In many cases it is desirable to accurately fix the wires of successive grids to one another. This is particularly difficult if the grids are arranged very close to one another, since a slight deviation in the position of the grid wires then means a relatively large change in the mutual spacing of the two grids. With such grids arranged close one behind the other, however, fixing the grid wires is particularly difficult, especially when there are mutual distances such. B. of the order of 0.3 mm, the use of very thin grid wires is required. Since such wires have a low mechanical rigidity, the above-mentioned disadvantage will occur to an increased extent. One would have to go over to the use of several support rods per grid, but then the disadvantage arises that, due to the small mutual distance, the support rods that would be attached in the vicinity of the effective grid parts would also have to be very thin, so that their strength is low. In fact, it is known to attach very thin transverse bars which are wholly supported by the lattice bars, but these bars can only serve to fix the wires of a grid together and not to fix the wires of successive grids to one another. According to the invention, the disadvantages mentioned are avoided in that in an electrical discharge tube which is provided with an electrode system with several grids, the grid wires of at least two successive grids are mutually fixed by shaped pieces of insulating material which are provided with incisions in which the grid wires of the mentioned successive grids rest.
The fittings can be in the form of narrow strips attached to one or both long sides provided with cavities or incisions in which the wires of successive grids come to lie. Such fittings can be attached in a simple manner between the grids that the Support rods of the outer of the two grids are pressed a little towards each other, whereby the wires of this grid take on a slightly more convex shape, so that the strips can be pushed between the two grids. After releasing the support rods the fittings are clamped between the grid wires.
Furthermore, the grids can be wound onto the fittings themselves, so that they also form the support rods of this grid. Be for this purpose the shaped pieces on one of their long sides with alternating deep and shallow cuts provided in which the wires of the successive grids are wound, namely, the wires of the inner grid in the deep and those of the next grid in the shallow cuts. Due to the sloping position of the deep incisions, can be achieved that the bottom of these incisions is just below that of the shallows Incisions come to rest so that the wires of the two grids lie one behind the other come. The fittings can be in the insulating centering plates of the electrode system or otherwise attached.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing in which FIG. 1 shows a cross section, FIG. 2 shows a detail of an embodiment according to the invention, Fig. 3 is a cross-section and Fig. 4 is a detail of another according to the invention Embodiment represents.
In Figure i, i is the cathode, 2, 3 and 4 are the grids, and 5 is an anode. The grids 2, 3 and 4 are wound onto support rods 6. The wires of the grids 2 and 3 take a precisely defined position to each other and are in this position of molded pieces 7 made of insulating material, for. B. soapstone, magnesium oxide, mica etc., fixed. These fittings can be designed in the manner shown in FIG. It is clear that there can be more than three grids and that the wires of more than two grids can be mutually fixed in the aforesaid manner.
In Fig. 3, a tube with four grids is shown in which again the grid wires of grids 2 and 3 must be fixed to each other. This is here achieved by strip-shaped organs 8, which alternate on one longitudinal side are provided with a number of shallow and deep cuts 9 and io, respectively. The grids 2 and 3 are wound on these organs in such a way that the wires of the grid 2 come to lie in the deep incisions and those of the grid 3 in the shallow incisions 9. Due to the inclined position of the deep incisions it can be achieved that the wires 2 and 3 come to lie one behind the other. The distance between 2 and 3 can be very small be. The organs 8 can be in the centering plates at the ends of the electrode system be attached. But it is also possible to use the grids 2 and 3 with normal support rods 6 to be provided, which can then be arranged in the plane of the remaining bars 6.
Although only two embodiments are shown, it is clear that According to the invention, fittings of a different shape can also be used.
