Um die Klötze von Baukasten in eine feste Verbindung unter einander zu bringen, hat man sich bisher verschiedener mechanischer Mittel, wie Stifte, Klammern, Federn, Verbindungsstücke u. s. w., bedient. Aber abgesehen von der dadurch bedingten Complication beschränkt sich hierbei die Möglichkeit der Verbindung im Allgemeinen auf gewisse gegenseitige Lagen der Klötze. Ein Bauen, welches der Wirklichkeit entspräche, ist auf diese Weise nicht möglich. Das erfordert durchaus ein den Mörtel vertretendes Bindemittel für die Klötze.In order to bring the building blocks into a permanent connection with one another, hitherto various mechanical means, such as pins, clamps, springs, connectors and so on. Um das Anhaften vermittelst eines Tropfens einer dazwischengebrachten Flüssigkeit zu bewirken, ist an sich nur nöthig, dafs die Flächen polirt und vollkommen eben sind, und dafs sie die Flüssigkeit nicht aufsaugen. Doch wird auch bei an sich schwach haftenden Flächen die Adhäsion durch dies Mittel sehr vermehrt, indem nach dem allmäligen Verdampfen der Flüssigkeit die Flächen in unmittelbarem Contact bleiben.
