Method for soldering copper pipes with gunmetal fittings For copper pipelines
the pipe sections are connected to each other for cold and hot water
often by gunmetal fittings, which are made with the copper pipes using a
an alloy of tin and lead existing solder metal can be soldered. The solder metal
is fed in the form of a wire through a cross hole in the fitting. Until now
a solid solder wire is used, which is why it is necessary to do this with
Soldering required flux to apply separately. When soldering is done in the way
proceed that first the pipes and the fittings are to be soldered together on their
Surfaces are coated with soldering grease. Then the solder joint with the flame
heated, whereupon with further supply of heat the solder wire into the cross hole of the fitting
is introduced. The wire to be heated melts and the molten metal flows
into the narrow soldered joint between the pipe and the fitting. This known method
is proportionate because of the need to apply the flux beforehand
awkward and time-consuming, especially since special care is taken on it
must that the soldering grease is applied evenly in a thin layer. In addition, there is
the risk that the soldering grease flows away when the solder joint is heated, so that
it is no longer available in sufficient quantities during the subsequent soldering.
