Bei .der Benutzung von Phonogrammträgern zur Aufzeichnung von Diktaten und Besprechungen ist es umständlich, wenn kbei der Wiedergabe des gesprochenen Wortes nicht verstandene Teile wiederholt werden sollen, da bei den bisher bekannten Schallaufzeichnungsverfahren auf Bändern, Folien oder Drähten der gesamte Phonogrammträger bis zu der gewünschten Stelle zurückbewegt oder gespult werden muß. Meistens handelt es sich hierbei um d ie Wiederholung von Satzteilen, die einige Sekunden vorher nicht erfaßt worden sind. Bei der Benutzung von schallplattenförmigen Phonogramimträgern, die mit Führungsrillen versehen sind, wird die Aufzeichnung und Wiedergabe mittels eines an einem Tonarm befestigten Sprech- ,und Wiedergabekopfes durchgeführt. Die Handhabung einer solchen Anordnung hat gegenüber den bereits erwähnten Verfahren eine Reihe von Vorteilen, da bereits von Hand aus kder Tonarm tim einige Rillen zurückgesetzt werden kann.
