Man benutzte dann
Establishment in the railway security system, whereby for the power supply

Alternating current for the operation of other facilities. Often you also have a diesel generator
provided that the power supply would take over in the event of a power failure, as at large train stations
the necessary reserve batteries would become too large. One then used
the batteries only to power the diesel starter. One difficulty with all
These systems still consist in the restart of the generators in the event of a power failure,
be it that they are powered by a battery or a diesel, at least
takes a considerable amount of time, during which the relays and other devices
change their position and only be brought back into the operating position
have to.
According to the invention, this deficiency is remedied and a change of position
of the various devices prevented by providing a compressed air motor
that bridges the time between the power failure and the start of the diesel engine.
The invention is based on the following considerations. The start-up of the generators
Coupled motors from a battery is faster than with the help of one
Diesels. The batteries won't last long, and will, if only
a short power failure is expected, very extensive in the case of large train stations,
to take
take up a lot of space and are expensive. So it is advisable to have one in any case
Use diesel propulsion. In this case you only need the battery
to bridge the time interval between the power failure and the use of the same,
d. H. so, when the diesel has reached the necessary number of revolutions, lies. These are
only for a few seconds, but the battery still needs one for this case
have a considerable extent to an excessive drop in the terminal voltage when switching on
to prevent the motors. This difficulty is resolved by using a compressed air motor
used to bridge the specified time interval. In the long run a
Compressed air motor is not sufficient as a reserve in the event of a power failure because the reserve is too large
of compressed air and the necessary containers would have to be provided. But right now
in that it is only a question of bridging a time interval of a few
Seconds, the compressed air motor is extremely suitable for this task
to take over. A very small supply of compressed air is sufficient to do the above
To bridge the time interval, and the supply can as soon as the diesel has started
is to be replenished by this. Another particular advantage is that
a compressed air motor starts up much faster than one powered by the battery
Motor, so that there is a dead time interval between power failure and power output
by the generator operated by the compressed air motor is hardly present and consequently
dropping of the relays etc. is also prevented. All the disadvantages of a battery,
like the padding, the quick wear and tear, the oxidizing of the terminals, the big ones
Contactor relays when switching on, etc., also become irrelevant.

The subject matter of the invention is explained in the figure, for example. It is assumed here that a three-phase current of 5o Hz is taken from the network for the operation of the points and that for the operation of the other facilities, e.g. B. signals and track circuits, a converter unit is provided that generates a current of 100 Hz. Normally, the current leads via lines 1, 2, 3 from the network RST directly to the consumer. In the event of a power failure, contacts 10, 11, 12 switch off the power supply and switch to the generator. The compressed air motor 2o is activated by a starter valve and drives the generator 21, which generates the current of 50 Hz. An electric motor 22 normally receives power from the network RST and generates the current of 100 Hz for the operation of the track power systems, signals, etc. via the generator 23 coupled to it a high-speed relay and a corresponding valve is started. A corresponding relay also starts the diesel engine 25 and as soon as it has reached the required number of revolutions, the generators 21 and 23 are coupled to the diesel via the automatically activated clutches (e.g. magnetic) 26 and 27. In this case, the compressed air motors 20 and 2.1 are automatically switched off again. As soon as the mains returns, the reserve unit is put out of operation again by means of corresponding contactors. The example shown shows the invention in its basic features and can be modified in various ways depending on the circumstances. The extremely fast start-up of the compressed air motor would, for. For example, if a battery is provided as a reserve, (read to bridge the time interval between the power failure and the start-up of the motors fed by the battery. In this case, one would have the advantage of not using the battery with the start-up peaks of the Engines loaded.
