einzustellenden

an elektrotechnischen Einrichtungen wirtschaftlich hinderlich.Device for treating molten metals, in particular cast iron
For economic reasons, the cleaning of metals is largely carried out in several

simple means and not too great a expenditure of energy succeeds in the main part
to remove the impurities. The elimination of the remaining impurities
however requires action and therefore facilities for the duration of the whole
Using the cleaning process would be uneconomical. As far as it is, in particular
in the case of cast iron, it involves heating to higher temperatures than otherwise required,

There has therefore been a general move towards using the so-called duplex method

The use of low-frequency induction furnaces has also proven to be valuable for non-ferrous metals

With the device according to the invention there is now a wide scope
more adaptable, also in
Acquisition and operation relatively cheaper furnace available. This facility
is characterized according to the invention in that it consists essentially of an inductive
heated channel through which the metal flows on the way to the casting mold.
This channel is advantageously open at the top and expediently tapered downwards
executed. By regulating the inflow and outflow, the power consumption or the
achieved temperature of the melt can be influenced during the flow. One
special embodiment results from the fact that on the outflow side of the device
several tap openings arranged one above the other are attached, the optional
can be put into use and thus the active channel cross-section or
affect the flow rate of the melt.
The device is expediently designed to be mobile, so that

Cupola furnace, can be brought up.
The invention and related further details are provided
Figs. i and 2, for example, explained.
in Abb. 2 in Vorderansicht dargestellt.
z. B. Kupolöfen, zu verwenden. In Fig. I a device according to the invention of the channel 2 is shown in elevation, in Fig. 2 in a front view. The melt to be treated is poured in from a premelting furnace in a more or less shallow forehearth i, the capacity of which is considerably smaller in relation to the contents of the channel 2 than in the already known furnace with an iron core, and flows through the branching into two branches 2a, 2b Channel to the pouring spout 3, which has three tap openings 3a, 3b, 3c arranged one above the other. The channel is preferably designed so that it tapers downwards. One branch 2a of the channel is surrounded by a transformer yoke 4, which carries a primary winding with many turns and is expediently protected from harmful overheating, for example by a cooling jacket 5 through which water flows. The secondary winding of the transformer is formed by the melting channel, in accordance with the basic structure of low-frequency induction furnaces. Depending on the choice of tapping openings 3a, 3 ' or 3c and according to the likewise optionally variable inflow speed of the melt to the forehearth, there is a different level of the melt in the channel and thus a different amount of energy consumption by the device, which in turn depends on the flow rate of the melt whose temperature is determined during its flow through the device. If the device according to the invention is built on a chassis 6, it is possible to use it in connection with several locally fixed premelting furnaces, e.g. B. cupolas to use.
