Description

Process for pressing water, acid and weatherproof Coatings on foils, sheets or molded pieces made of vulcanized fiber The invention relates focuses on a process for pressing water, acid and weatherproof coatings on foils, plates or molded pieces made of Vull: aiifil> er without glue or binding agent and without an intermediate layer being glued on beforehand.

Some of the covers for vulcanized fiber used up to now are not sufficiently resistant to water, acids and weather influences or to mechanical wear, and sometimes they do not withstand the changes in shape during processing of the vulcanized fiber. According to patent 708 793, a fine-thread fabric, fibers or associations are first glued on using adhesives, then a film made of polymerization products of vinyl chloride or copolymers of vinyl chloride with other unsaturated organic compounds is glued or pressed on. In order to remedy the above inadequacies, and also to save the fabric or fiber intermediate layer, and to avoid the operations associated with gluing them on, according to the present invention, instead of ordinary vulcanized fiber, a vulcanized fiber is used as a vulcanized fiber base, which is a lightly parchmented paper layer or not at all as the top layer. In the case of vulcanized fiber emptied according to the continuous process, such material in thin thicknesses is known as so-called vegetable leather. Such vulcanized fiber is manufactured according to the continuous process in such a way that the uppermost paper web is not pulled through the parchment bath, but rather unparchmented onto the other pergan-oriented layers. In the winding process, such material is obtained by letting a non-parchment paper web run up with the last revolution. In this way, the non-parchmented webs parchment firmly, but retain a greater or lesser degree of porosity, depending on their thickness and specific parchmentability. Under suitable pressing conditions, films made from polymerization products of vinyl chloride or copolymers of vinyl chloride with other unsaturated organic compounds can be applied to this lightly parchmented surface by hot pressing. Furthermore, the polymerization product can be applied in solution to the non-parchmented side of the vulcanized fiber and, after the solvent has evaporated, the resulting film can also be pressed on under suitable conditions.

To ensure that the foils adhere firmly to the vulcanized fiber, it is not sufficient that the pressing temperature is in the range of the softening product of the The film to be pressed on is where it can only be pressed with low pressure in order to achieve a To avoid flowing away of the film, but it must when the pressed part cools down Compression pressure can be increased to a multiple of the initial pressure.
