Darauf wird das Ventil g geschlossen und gelangt das Desinfectionsgut unter Einwirkung des directen Dampfes. Letzterer durchströmt die Fleischmassen und die Rotation der Trommel verhindert die Bildung einer compacten Masse. Das Fett und sonstige lösliche Theile verflüssigen sich und tropfen durch die gelochte Trommel B in den darunter befindlichen Raum. Nachdem der Dampf solcher Art längere Zeit gewirkt hat, wird Ventil h geschlossen und Ventil J geöffnet, wodurch alle angesammelten Flüssigkeiten durch den noch im Apparat befindlichen Dampf hinausgedrückt werden. Ist dieses geschehen, so wird Ventil / wieder geschlossen und der Dampfmantel durch Oeffnen des Ventils f nochmals geheizt, um eine völlige Trocknung der Fleisch - und Knochenmassen vorzunehmen. Dabei wird das Mannloch K an der Vorderwand und das Ventil g geöffnet, um eine gute Luftcirculation zu erzielen. Während der Trocknung werden die Massen gleichzeitig durch die Walze C gemahlen, so dafs sie als Mehl durch den gelochten Cylinder hindurchfallen, um durch die am äufseren Umfang desselben angebrachte Schnecke L durch K heraustransportirt zu werden.After some time, the actual disinfection period is initiated by opening valve h.
