In the case of differential arcing chambers, the electrical switch is
Movement of a differential piston inevitably purging the arc
causes in the chamber. Since the arc pressure only occurs within the chamber,
the switch housing accommodating the chamber is relieved of pressure. With switches
for small powers it was therefore proposed that each switch pole take the form of a
To give insulating tube, in which the arcing chamber with the fixed contact piece
is built in. The switch pin is in the bottom of the end flange of the insulating tube
out and stored the perforated chamber on the lower floor. Here, the forms from insulating material
existing switch wall partially the chamber wall, whereby to guide the differential piston
and a metal cylinder is provided to reinforce the switch wall, which is
against the inside wall of the switch. These switches do not have relief valves,
which open automatically with a very high increase in pressure in the chamber and
prevent the chamber from being destroyed. Therefore, these switches are only for low breaking capacities
usable. The installation of relief valves of the known type is not possible,
because the chamber is located directly at the bottom of the insulating tube and between
Insulating tube and extinguishing chamber wall no space to accommodate relief valves
is available.
In order to still be able to use such extinguishing chamber switches for larger cut-off currents, according to the invention the metal cylinder provided for guiding the differential piston, which rests against the inner wall of the switch, is provided with recesses so that, after a certain movement of the differential piston, they establish a valve-like connection with the outside space. These recesses in the metal cylinder can have the form of slots of the same width, but they can also enlarge in the direction of movement of the piston. During the interruption process, part of the arc gases will flow into the open through the slots, according to the pressure in the chamber, so that only such a pressure is maintained in this that is sufficient to bring about sufficient purging of the arc in the chamber. The chamber cannot be destroyed if more arc gases occur at higher currents. In spite of its simple design, this switch can also handle high disconnection capacities.
One of the possible embodiments is shown in the figures. a is the switch wall made of insulating material, in which the quenching chamber b with the differential piston c is installed. d is the switch pin, e the fixed contact in the chamber. The differential piston c is guided through the chamber wall a, and a metal cylinder f is attached to the inner wall of the switch for this purpose. This metal cylinder f has, as Fig. 2 shows, recesses g. When the contact is opened, the arc gases create an overpressure in the chamber, which acts on the differential piston c. This can only move when the switching pin has released the opening in the differential piston that it has kept closed. At this moment the ring-shaped continues. Irrigation on. After a short path of the differential piston, the openings g in the metal cylinder are released, and part of the liquid mixture in the chamber can escape to the outside via these, whereby a very high pressure increase in the chamber is avoided.
