Die vorliegende Erfindung bezweckt, einen Sarg zu schaffen, welcher bei verhältnifsmäfsig geringen Herstellungskosten einen vollständig luftdichten Abschlufs gestattet.The present invention aims to provide a coffin which can be used in relatively low manufacturing costs allow a completely airtight seal.

Dieser Sarg besteht aus zwei Hälften α und b, welche kreis- bezw. ovalförmig hergestellt werden können. Die Dauben einer jeden Hälfte sind mit Nuth und Feder oder in ähnlicher zweckentsprechender Weise unter einander verbunden. In beiden Theilen sind an den Enden Fugen c vorgesehen, in welche die beiden Böden d und e eingreifen. Dieselben sind in der einen Hälfte α fest angebracht, so dais sie beim Oeffnen des Sarges aus dem Theil α hervorragen. Das Schliefsen des Sarges geschieht durch die beiden Reifen fg, welche in der durch Fig. 1 ersichtlichen Weise um den Sarg gelegt und vermittelst der Schrauben h fest angezogen werden können zum Zwecke eines luftdichten Verschlusses des Sarges, was bei Epidemien u. s. w. von grofsem Vortheil ist. Um ein Oeffnen des Sarges von fremder Hand unmöglich zu machen, können die Schrauben h an ihren Enden mit Schlössern versehen werden. Auf diese Weise ist eine Leichenberaubung völlig ausgeschlossen. Der aus Dauben zusammengefügte Sarg ist bedeutend widerstandsfähiger als jeder geleimte oder ähnlich zusammengefügte Holzsarg, da seine gewölbeförmige Bauart eine grofse Tragfähigkeit besitzt, wodurch ein Zusammenstürzen und das hierdurch hervorgerufene Einfallen der Gräber vermieden wird. Aufserdem leistet auch das Daubengefüge der Erdfeuchtigkeit bedeutend länger Widerstand, als jedes andere HoIzgefüge.
