Description
Ax with a leaf-shaped sheath The one used so far in woodworking and forestry work Common axes consist of: a bad, which encloses the handle, and of a leaf with both cheeks wedge-shaped from the eyelet towards the cutting edge to run. Up until now it was believed that the leaf had to be made as strong as possible. so that it does not break even under heavy use; the acute angle of the cheeks at the cutting edge is therefore relatively large. This has the consequence that the cutting edge accordingly difficult to penetrate into the wood, because it is also quite strong at the same time must be split up. In order to still have a sufficient penetration depth of 1 - to reach, one has made the axes as difficult as possible, because only in this way sufficient impact could be achieved on impact. Through (read great weight but the ax is heavily burdened on the woodworker; the average daily output a lumberjack, for example, amounts to about 5,600 blows on hardwood, and weaker blows on hardwood Wood 75oo blows. The labor force therefore becomes very strong when using these axes used, which leads to premature fatigue.
There are already lighter axes with a smaller cutting angle became known, which is gained by the fact that the originally quite powerful Leaf is kept correspondingly weaker in its foremost part. Ax cutting but become blunt relatively quickly in use and then have to be sharpened be, with the cutting angle due to the wedge-shaped course of the cheeks increases rapidly, so (let 111 appear for a short time the same disadvantages that were explained by (read large: ax weight to be overcome. These axes are therefore only for light ones Can be used for work or only for a relatively short period of use. Further axes have become known in which an eyelet made of bent sheet steel has a Cutting edge made of the same material is used, which means that the cutting edge has to be replaced should be made possible. These axes are also only lightly used grown, because otherwise the connection between eyelet and blade loosens quickly and this renders the ax unusable. Another known ax is leaf-shaped Cut that has wedge-shaped @. = Indentations on both sides so that the Ax not only cuts, but also has an increased wedge effect.
.The subject of the invention is one intended for heavy use Ax, the shape of which was previously considered to be indispensable for such axes Guidelines' are basically left by making the eyelet from one piece with one wedge-shaped thin sheet adjoining them is forged, both cheeks of which essentially parallel over its entire length with a small distance to the cutting edge get lost. Instead of one tapered uniformly from the eyelet to the cutting edge The entire extent of the leaf occurs here only a few millimeters (in usually about 3 to 5 mm) thick blade, the edge of which is at a small angle is ground, which remains unchanged even after repeated regrinding remain. As a result of the acute cutting angle and the small blade thickness, this penetrates Ax with much less friction and therefore much easier into the wood; it is therefore sufficient to achieve the same depth of penetration a much smaller one Mass effect and thus a much lower weight. Attempts by the inventor. to have showed that the weight of the ax with the same power is only about 40% of the weight of the usual axes. This becomes the labor of the woodworker spared to a high degree and work performance promoted. .
Another advantage of the new ax is that it is resilient Length of the thin blade due to elasticity when the ax is out of a suitable Steel alloy is made. The elastic spring action proves to be below among other things, especially when hammering in branches as advantageous because they. a Twisting easier without the risk of breakage. This also makes the usual turning of the trunk with the help of the ax hammered on the side of the brain. While with the axes in use up to now this is easy due to the rigidity of the blade there is a risk of the handle breaking, the thin blade of the ax after @ $ er Invention over the eyelet through the handle, twisted a little and thereby receives a voltage, as a result of which it tends to turn the trunk itself. Even loosening of the stalk occurs as a result of the elasticity of the leaf and the lesser Weight of the ax not so easily.
An embodiment of an ax according to the invention is shown in the drawing shown in schematic form.
Fig. i ist eine Seitenansicht, Fig. 2 ein Schnitt nach der Linie A-A, Fig. 3 ein Schnitt durch das Blatt nach der Linie B-B in Fig. i.Fig. I is a side view, Fig. 2 is a section along the line A-A, Fig. 3 is a section through the sheet along the line B-B in Fig. I.
With i the stem is designated, with 2 the eyelet, with 3 the leaf, the is ground to a cutting edge 4 at the front.
As can be seen from the drawing, the eyelet 2 is immediately wedge-shaped into the thin sheet 3, the cheeks of which are parallel to each other and in front are ground to a very small acute angle.
