For refining steel with oxygen on the stove of the Siemens-Martin furnace,
In the electric furnace o. The like. Either water-cooled copper nozzles or simple
Iron pipes are used, the latter especially when the nozzle is immersed in the bath
will. With water-cooled nozzles, the water consumption is very, large, and so is the cost
the cooling are not inconsiderable '. Mostly simple iron burn pipes are used
used. They have the disadvantage that they burn off quickly. For freshening a batch
As a rule, many such iron pipes are consumed. In addition to the material costs
there is also a loss of time for renewing the combustion tubes, which is considered a disadvantage
is felt because (read refreshing with oxygen just the acceleration of the
Should serve the fresh process: The burning of the nozzle usually begins at the outlet end,
because there is the highest temperature there. The fire moves backwards towards it
the oxygen flow. The speed of burning is further increased by
that the tube is exposed to heat radiation from the bath and furnace walls. Pipes out
ceramic material are non-flammable, but due to the demands of the company
cannot cope with their low mechanical strength.
The invention relates to a nozzle which does not have these disadvantages
having. A nozzle for blowing oxygen onto a bath of molten steel
for the purpose of freshening, therefore, according to the invention, a steel pipe is more sufficient
mechanical durability, which is lined inside with hard-to-oxidize material
is. This design takes account of the fact that especially the inner wall of the pipe
there is a risk of burns, as only these are directly exposed to oxygen
Touch stands while the outer wall is in a low-oxygen atmosphere,
which is less likely to cause burns. As an inner lining, for. B. a
Thin-walled tube made of chrome steel serve, chrome steel as an example for all heavy
combustible steels. The inner lining can also consist of a ceramic protective layer,
are made by baking or dipping onto the steel pipe using known methods
is applied inside and expediently also outside (cf. VDI 1949, 9, p. 209, 5th paragraph).
The lining materials mentioned still burn in the flow of oxygen
not if they are already red-hot. Taking such a high temperature
the nozzle pipe but despite the strong heat radiation from the bath and. Furnace wall not
because the flow through the nozzle usually takes place at a very high speed (ioo to
aoo m / sec), the oxygen flowing through the pipe is considerably below the temperature of the red heat
cools. The nozzle tube gets even less hot when it is in the radiation area
a protective sheath made of ceramic material is provided. The protective coat should
not to be too thick, with a tube of 12 1-nm light width z. B. not a bigger one
Wall thickness than 2o inm, around the illuminated area, whose heat absorption yes
with the outside diameter of the insulation grows, to keep it as small as possible.
According to a further idea of the invention, the entire nozzle end can be one
Obtained coating of difficult to oxidize material, e.g. B. an order welding
(Armor) made of flame-retardant steel, a cap made of chrome-nickel sheet, a
Coating made of ceramic material or a screw-on, replaceable pipe section
made of hard-to-burn steel. This eliminates the possibility of the end of the pipe
any coincidences ignite, further deposed.
The nozzle according to the invention is not heavier than a combustion tube
and is just as easy to handle, but has the advantage of being replaced much less frequently
to have to be than this and not to consume cooling water.
