Description

Indirectly heated cathode for cathode ray tubes It is already known to use flat cathodes that are indirectly heated for cathode ray tubes. So you have for this purpose z. B. in addition to radiation-heated, the EmissionG-layer supporting round sheet metal disks also rectangular ones as carriers of the emission layer Serving metal boxes used, which enclosed the circularly curved heating coil. However, such cathodes do not use the heating energy economically and result a strongly diverging cathode ray beam.

The invention relates to a particularly suitable for cathode ray tubes, indirectly heated cathode - which is known per se for amplifier tubes Way consists of a heating coil embedded in insulating material, on its insulating layer a second metal coil wound as a carrier of the emission layer lies. That novel characteristics of the cathode according to the invention is that it has the shape of a toroid. In connection with the described, known structure this cathode achieves excellent thermal contact on the one hand between heating coil and emission layer, d. H. particularly low heat losses, and a correspondingly low heating output. On the other hand, you get this way however, a uniformity of temperature distribution, which is particularly important for cathode ray tubes .on the emitting surface, which for the formation of a particularly well bundled Cathode ray leads; because that Toroid serving as a heating element surrounds a conical O_xydpfröpfchen, so that the outside stronger radiation due to the greater temperature gradient inside between the filament and the emission layer finds its balance. The uniformity of the temperature distribution becomes even more favorable, if you put the toroidal cathode in a small insulating shell.

The diameter of the toroidal cathode of the present invention is in proportion expediently chosen as small as possible for the diameter of the output heating coil. There is then only a relatively narrow indentation in the middle of the toroid of funnel-shaped shape, which can be easily filled with oxide paste, so that a practically flat emission surface is created.
