Description
Process for removing fluorine from roasting gases The subject of the invention is a process for removing fluorine from roasting gases, especially those which are produced from a fluorine-containing screen.
In the production of sulfuric acid from roasting gases using the chamber process the fluorine escapes partly as hydrofluoric acid, partly as silicon tetrafluoride with the Tail gases. The contact process, on the other hand, requires complete removal of the fluorine-containing material Proportion before the entry of the gases into the contact apparatus if the Contact carrier should be prevented.
It is known per se to initially use roasting gases to liberate fluorine to sprinkle with sulfuric acid from 59 to 60 ° Be and then with thinner acid, but the use of random packings in the towers is dispensed with.
It is also known, for the purpose of eliminating gaseous contact poisons, like fluorine, the sprinkling of the same from roasting gases. Sulfuric acid in several to effect equipped towers with packing, the tower packing z. B. made of quartz exists (see U.S. Patent 940,595). In this process, the first tower an acid of 40 ° B8 is used. It can be assumed that here, too, it is common Way with decreasing concentration of acid in the successive towers is being worked on. It has been shown that under these circumstances only a very incomplete Conversion of fluoric acid into silicon tetrafluoride, and only in the amount of 22 to 40% takes place. The absorption of the fluorine component is also unsatisfactory.
It has now been found that this inadequate success of the known Procedure attributed to the too low concentration of acid in the first tower is.
According to the invention, the dedusted roasting gases are therefore in one with fluorine-resistant coating, e.g. B. burnt coal stones, lined trickle tower, the filler body made of quartz or silicates, for example broken glass, contains, with Sulfuric acid treated from 67 to 78% H2 S 04 until all the fluorine is in silicon tetrafluoride is transferred, and then in a second, lined like the first, also Tower equipped with silica-containing packings with a thin sulfuric acid sprinkled with about 4 to 1 g% H2 S O4.
When carrying out the method according to the invention, the proportion of the roasting gases at Si F4 after exiting the first tower by contact with the weak acid of the second tower in silica in gelatinous form and in silicofluoric acid (H2 Si FE), which is soluble in the weak acid. The content of the circulating acid on H2 Si F, this tower must be constantly checked. Does it exceed a certain Measure, about 10 g / 1, so a part of the washing liquid must be drawn off and replaced with water be replaced. The precipitated silica is removed by the sprinkling Tower flushed out and deposited in settling tanks.
The one emerging from the second tower, cooled to about 3o to 40 ° Roasting gas is fed to an electrical wet cleaning system, which contains the Supersaturation mist together with other suspended matter, such as traces of dust, arsenic and similar components.
For safety reasons, it is recommended to turn off the roasting gases after leaving the electrical wet cleaning of a repeated washing with water in a third, similar to the previous one built and lined tower to subdue. Even Care must be taken here that the circulating liquid has been enriched to a certain extent with silicofluoric acid with deduction of an appropriate portion Fresh water is supplemented.
Following this, the roasting gas is expediently a second and if necessary subjected to a third electrical wet treatment, in order then to be ready for contact.
The use of carbon or coal bricks as a more fluorine resistant Building material is known and does not form part of the content of the invention, rather it represents is only an advantageous measure that does not affect the invention itself.
