Vorteilhaft läßt sich das Verfahren so ausführen, daß man das Jod in statu nascendi auf den Polyvinylalkohol einwirken läßt, wie es beispielsweise der Fall ist, wenn man Kaliumjodid und Kaliumjodat im molaren Verhältnis 5 : i in Wasser löst und diese Lösung mit einer Lösung von Polyvinylalkohol, der vorher .eine äquivalente :Menge Salzsäure zuge- setzt wurde, vereinigt. In diesem Falle tritt die die Bindung des Jods an :den Polyvinylalkohol anzeigende Farbreaktion unmittelbar ein.
