Nachteilig ist hierbei die zwangsläufige Ruhestellung der Kaumuskulatur durch den Patienten, um auftretenden Schmerzen beim Kauen vorzubeugen. Dadurch ist natürlich der Heilungserfolg ganz wesentlich beeinträchtigt, da der dafür erforderliche, durch Kaubewegungen üblicherweise ausgelöste natürliche Schleimfluß kaum gegeben ist. So verursacht beispielsweise das ledigliche Lutschen von Pastillen bzw. Linguetten kaum mechanische Bewegungen
