Use of lead-containing aluminum bronzes for machine parts subject to sliding loads. o, but preferably more than: 21 /, there is lead, for machine parts subject to sliding stress according to patent 726 736 and the aim is to bring about a further increase in the sliding properties.
The knowledge on which patent 726 736 is based consists in increasing the mechanical values of the alloy, such as strength and elongation, compared to a normal lead bronze through the proportion of lead, although the structure of the alloy is similar to that of a lead bronze. In the proposed alloy, however, the lead is not dissolved in the base mass, but rather it is finely distributed in the crystal grains and in this way also promotes the sliding properties that are essential for machine parts sliding on top of one another. The lead of the alloy stanchions in question with the aforementioned basic components can, for. T. be replaced by cadmium, bismuth, antimony, arsenic, tellurium and tin in the amount of 0.1 to Aa individually or in a suitable combination. In addition, there is also the possibility of adding manganese, iron, nickel and cobalt in amounts of 0.5 to 5-1, likewise individually or in combination.
Indem diesen Legierungen erfindungsgen * ß noch Silic,*un-i

By these alloys erfindungsgen * ß still Silic, * un-i--content in narrow IAE l # o, i is added to 5 ° 1o, "-erden the mechanical and storage properties still further increased. The change in structure brought about by the addition of silicon corresponds to that of conventional bearing metals with regard to the structure of the latter. In addition, however, in connection with: Manganese, a tempering ability is achieved that allows an increase in strength and hardness. The following alloys have proven to be particularly advantageous: Alloy -A1 Mn si Fe Ni Pb ('u

For the purpose of tempering, the alloys are heated to 700 to goo °, quenched and heated again to temperatures between zoo and 600 °. The following compilation gives an overview of the strong increase in hardness, strength and yield point achieved as a result. It is noteworthy that the alloys do not become brittle during this heat treatment. A I Mn @@ si Fe Ni Pb

The upper row of numbers applies to the cast alloy, the lower row of numbers to the heat treatment. The quenching temperature is Soo °, while the temperature at which it has been hardened is 500 °.
The silicon-containing alloys can be used in exactly the same way as the silicon-free ones
of the main patent 726 736 by pressing, forging, casting, rolling, etc.
In contrast to the cast light metal alloys, however, the invention
Alloys, provided they are tempered in the as-cast state, do not exhibit brittleness.
worden. The alloys listed in the second compilation differ from those in the first by the addition of iron. Such alloys have already been mentioned in main patent 7:26 736 , with the exception of the silicon content.
