Process for the manufacture of steatite-like ceramic products
previous presentation of Steätit products especially for: electrical engineering
Industry; is based on natural soapstone either on its own
is dry-pressed and annealed or the soapstone is processed in such a way that
that @er in a mixture with kaolin and flux to a certain extent lead to a strong soapstone
Porcelain is deformed. In both cases the raw material required was exclusive
natural soapstone.
It has also been suggested that they be artificial, produced by melt flight
To use magnesium silicates to build ceramic bodies.
konstante Zusammensetzung des natürlichen Specksteins ,gebunden, was in zahlreichen
also einerseits
It has now been shown that instead of natural soapstone
those artificial magnesium silicates that can be used in the
Regeneration of caustic alkalis from alkali silicate solutions by causticizing with magnesium oxide,
possibly in association with other caustic oxides, such as B. calcium oxide
or barium oxide, obtained as a by-product and waste product. You have it with this one
Use of a previous waste product in hand, through alternating addition
the ratio of caustic magnesia to alkali silicate solution also varies
from M, g O to Si O. in the insoluble residue of causticization and the
Magnesium silicates obtained in this way to the composition that is favorable for certain purposes
to be determined. So one is in no way involved in the production of the masses
constant composition of natural soapstone, what is bound in numerous
Cases means an advantage. These artificial magnesium silicates of varying composition
can not only use natural soapstone in all of its applications;
represented, but are also quite independent, in unlimited quantities

Soapstones are, on the other hand, still considered quite self-sufficient. permanent raw material

erzielt. Beispiele i.

A steatite casting compound made of io Mg O, @, i Al ;; 03, 1.7 Si O., made up of Zettlitzer kaolin, stone button, quartz, feldspar, artificial magnesium silicate. Porcelain gullet powder is made pourable by adding a few parts per thousand of caustic soda. A wide variety of objects can be formed from this casting slip. The same «earths are annealed on Seger cone 14 after drying. They are sintered and can also be provided with a suitable glaze. The shrinkage of the masses is small and does not go beyond what you get when using natural soapstone. The objects formed by any method are thus of good dimensional stability and accordingly meet one of the main requirements of electrical ceramic practice.
