Description

Process for the production of magnesia cement or concrete The invention relates to a process for the production of magnesia cement or concrete and aims the increase in water resistance. According to the hydraulic Mixing ingredients, namely magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride and water, with such mineral aggregates processed concrete technically, which at least contain such an amount of hydraulic carriers as the amount used Magnesium oxide is equivalent by changing the mixing ratio between Mg 0, Mg C12 and H20 within the limits of 4o to 52% Mg O, i o to i 8% Mg C12 and 3 2 to 460; o H20 selects. Artificial hydraulic carriers have proven to be particularly advantageous or natural glasses and slags, especially with oversaturated and light cleavable acidic fraction. The invention makes it possible to use magnesia cement or - to produce concrete, which in terms of water resistance to portland cement or concrete is on a par with them in terms of strength and spatial stability even surpasses.

The chemical processes that take place during setting are presumably the following.

Magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride initially form magnesium oxychloride, which converts to magnesium oxyhydrate with splitting off due to excess water the hydrochloric acid, which in turn, with new magnesium oxide, the magnesium chloride forms, which in turn reacts again as above. It takes place thus a cycle is established until all of the magnesium oxide is converted into magnesium oxyhydrate is. The latter reacts with further excess water and active hydraulic carriers easily with the formation of magnesium hydrosilicates, aluminates or ferrites.
