Description

Finishing, especially stiffening hats From a useful one Finishing solution for braids, hat braids and similar structures bziv. the generated with it Finishing the following properties are required: high yield, so that low-percentage Solutions in low-cost, mild-smelling solvents already have a clear finishing effect exercise, colorlessness and insensitivity to light, insensitivity of the finish against heat and cold, good adhesion also on difficult surfaces, e.g. B. Cellulose hydrate from viscose, great elasticity that allows the Finishing the changes in length associated with the absorption and release of moisture of the material, e.g. B. Cellulose hydrate braids, participates without flaking, a certain own water absorption capacity, the properties of the finish match those of the braid fabric .adjusts and thereby makes it rainproof.

Among the known chemical substances used for the finishing of the structures in question, such as gelatin, shellac, nitrocellulose, benzyl cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, there is none that meets all of the above requirements. In contrast, it has been found that reaction products of polyvinyl esters with aldehydes result in finishes. which meet the requirements listed above as a whole, if certain conditions are taken into account in their selection or use. It has been found that the low-viscosity polyvinyl acetals obtainable in this way include those which have the properties favorable for the above use, in particular adequate wet elongation in conjunction with Genii-end elasticity, adhesive force and temperature pera.turunemfind@ichhcit, -1, sit down.
