Description

Process for the extraction of hard asphalt from petroleum distillation residues The soft to hard pitch-like substances that remain after the distillation of the crude petroleum Residues under the name Biturnen, Petrolpech, Petrolasphalt etc. in Trade are made up of so-called soft asphalts, resins, paraffins and hard asphalts in varying amounts. It is known that hard asphalt can be obtained from these pitches can be separated analytically by dissolving the pitches in benzene and this solution diluted with gasoline. The bad luck falls out. You can also use the hard asphalt win from their solutions by adding the solutions in benzene or heavy gasoline adds higher alcohols.

A technically usable process has so far emerged from these Knowledge not developed because of the loss of expensive solvents and the cumbersome recovery these solvents made the process so expensive that it was economical to use of the hard asphalt obtained was excluded.

It has now been found that hard asphalt, which can be used effectively for certain purposes, can be obtained in a simple manner without loss of solvents by first dissolving the petroleum distillation residues in a high-boiling gasoline and then precipitating the hard asphalt from this solution by diluting it with a low-boiling gasoline . It is essential that the lower boiling limit of high-boiling gasoline is about 100 ° higher than the highest boiling limit of low-boiling gasoline. This measure makes it possible to recover almost completely separately from the solution of the remaining components of the petroleum distillation pitch in the gasoline mixture that remains after the hard asphalt has precipitated. The process proceeds as follows, for example: about 100 kg of petroleum distillation residues from the softening point after Krämer-Sarnow of 50 to 6o 'become 52e #,; melted and then dissolved with the same amount of heavy gasoline with a boiling point between 160 and 200 ° C. After this solution has cooled down, it is slowly poured into q to 5 times the amount of light gasoline, the maximum boiling point of which is from 60 to 70 °. The hard asphalt separates out in powder form and can easily be obtained from the solution by filtering or centrifuging or in some other way. From the solution flowing off the hard asphalt, which contains the remaining components of the petroleum distillation residues, namely the soft asphalts, resins and paraffins, the light gasoline can be distilled off almost completely within the original boiling limits due to the large difference in the limit boiling points. The remaining solution of the residual constituents of the petroleum distillation residues can be further distilled to recover the heavy gasoline, whereby. then the soft asphalts, resins and araffine from the petroleum distillation that are left behind in themselves cks extraction of the resins or paraffin further processed in a suitable manner can ground. The heavy fuel solutions but can also be added to the crude petroleum if the recovery of the resins and paraffins is not particularly important, the heavy petroleum being recovered in a known manner together with the heavy petroleum distilling from the crude petroleum.
