Process for sensitizing photographic silver halide emulsions The invention relates to a new process for sensitizing photographic silver halide emulsions which can be sensitized for any regions of the spectral range with the aid of new dyes. These dyes have the following constitution wherein R1 = alkyl, n = an odd number greater than i up to 9 means. The bonds given at the ends of the azole rings indicate that the azole ring can carry the usual substituents known in cyanine dye chemistry or aas-fused benzene, naphthalene rings or other ring systems. The dyes can be obtained by condensation of omega aldehydes in the 2-position of the nitrogen atom of the azole bases in question alkylated on the nitrogen with acetone dicarboxylic acid.
in übereinanderliegenden Emulsionssclüch
These methine dyes represent a completely new class of sensitizers. They belong neither to the basic nor to the acidic dyes. Compared to known. Carbocyanine dyes, e.g. B. thiazole purple and those known meso-substituted carbocyanines which have a pronounced green gap, the new sensitisers have the advantage of a sharp drop in the sensitization after the long wavelengths and also show a greater selectivity of the sensitization. As a result, they are, for. B. to sensitize emulsion layers for multicolor photography that work according to your principle, in one on top of the other emulsion clüch
To produce partial color separations, especially n
fully; than the more selective the sensitizers
for the zone of a partial color, it is much easier to send light of the other partial color through the upper layers without these being exposed in a developable manner.
nine im üblichen Sinne anzusprechen sind;
Furthermore, the emulsions sensitized with such dyes are not very sensitive to stabilizers, such as bromine salts or those organic compounds which have N H groups and usually reduce the overall sensitivity or also the color sensitivity. This cheap ller-_jtalten is probably due to the completely different igen chemical constitution of the new
materials together that are not actually considered to be
nine are to be addressed in the usual sense;
4renn they are neither more saturated nor basic and therefore do not appear in the form of salts. The acid residue found in the cyanine dyes on the nitrogen atom of one of the hetero rings is completely absent here. The presence of double-bonded oxygen in the polymethine chain is also new.
