Die selbsttätige Beeinflussung der Gittersteuerung des Stromrichters erfolgt erfindungsgemäß in Abliängig1,eit vom Motorstrom bzw. dem Spannungsabfall an einem im Ankerkreis eingeschalteten Widerstand, und zwar durch Beeinflussung der Gleichstrommaglletisierung des Steuertransformators. Durch Verändern der Größe dieses Widerstandes kann die Gittersteuerung bei gegebenem Steuertransformator dem jeweiligen Rollvorgang angepaßt werden. Um die Kennliniencharakteristik auch von Hand beeinflussen zu können, wird zweckmäßig in bekannter Weise eine von Hand regelbare Gleichstromvormagnetisierung für den Steuertransformator vorgesehen.
