Eigenschaften wesentlich unterscheiden (so weist z.
Bedeutung.Process for converting 17-cis-oestradiol to 17-trans-oestradiol
During the reduction of the estrone a mixture of isomeric alcohols is formed
only by the position of the hydroxyl group formed by the reduction on the carbon atom
17 differentiate. It creates both the cis-oestradiol, in which the hydroxyl group
on carbon atom 17 and the adjacent methyl group in the cis position to one another
stand, as well as the trans-estradiol, in which these groups are in the trans position to one another
are arranged. By suitable selection of the reduction conditions it is possible to
the equilibrium of the reaction products in favor of one or the other isomer
to move. But it is not possible in this way to form the one
Completely suppress isomers. Since the two isomies are now in their physiological
Properties differ significantly (e.g. the cis-oestradiol has only about
a tenth of the effectiveness of trans-estradiol), this means that it has been unavoidable up to now
Formation of the less effective isomer results in a loss of estrogenic units. Procedure,
Avoiding or reducing this loss therefore requires great technical means

It has now been found that this goal can be achieved if one appropriately
The present invention works in a cycle by doing that in the reduction
less effective isomers formed are reoxygenated to the corresponding ketone and
this optionally reduced again with the addition of further amounts of the ketone.
