Zweckmäßig setzt man das Alterungsschutzmittel der zu verarbeitenden Mischung vor der Vulkanisation zu bzw. der Streich- oder Tauchlösung oder der Kautschukmilchmischung. Es ist aber auch, besonders bei dünnwandigen Erzeugnissen, möglich, die fertiggeformten Gegenstände in einer Lösung des Alterungsschutzmittels vor oder nach der Vulkanisation abzutauchen bzw. damit zu bestreichen, wobei ebenfalls die gewünschte Schutzwirkung erzielt wird.
